yep.

a few of my friends have been in a couple bad accidents during HS which all resulted in totaled cars. two of them were sleep related accidents and the third one was just the guy being a uncoordinated bad driver who rolled his car down a hill... nobody died tho!

Hers apparently didn't, which caused her to drive by herself home at 4am *most likely* drunk. Driving a car is a BIG responsibility that shouldn't be looked over, there are more people killed a year on roads than most anything else. So saying that a 16 year old doesn't have responsibility is ignorant, you have a responsibility to drive safe and not kill your passengers or the people you share the road with. Looks like her parents didn't take it seriously and handed her an 80k car and let her do what she wanted.

I know the rules. If I drink, no driving. End of story, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Pretty soon we'll see an organization pop up whose goal will be to start a "war" against trees.
Those leafy bastards as slowly killing off all our celebrities and teenage women.

Drove by the scene today... from the house she left from, the road goes slightly uphill then just after the crest it turns right. The tree she hit is straight ahead so she must have just gunned it from her friends driveway and didn't realize the road turned. The church where the service was held was right around the corner from the scene and was PACKED with cars. Sad.

there was an accident literally down my road when i was younger. something about seniors from the local high school driving too fast and running directly into a electric pole. all four of em died... i wanna say like 10-14 years later there are still flowers and wreaths put on that pole...

I wrote out something long and pathetic about empowerment and decision-making, but this sums it up in the end - because I am a hypocrite:

Got some "inside info" on this accident.

If you have a weak stomach, I would stop reading here.

Girl's mother was having a party at the house and the kids and their friends were also there drinking. In the wee hours of the night, one of her friends parents called and demanded that the girl get home. The daughter (unlicensed but had taken performance driving classes) then left the house to drive her friend home and after dropping off the friend, somehow managed to get up to 79mph and hit the tree, sheering the left side of the vehicle off and essentially doing the same to the girl. The friend hears the impact from her house and runs to the scene - throwing up instantly. Cops show up and also take turns throwing up in the woods as they look for parts of the girl (reportedly her head).

It's the second massive tragedy for the family as their house burned to the ground about 2 years ago, killing their 2 dogs.

Thanks. I have no pitty for the family. parents should be charged for letting the girl drive.

another death for alcohol. but the count is still zero for marijuana.

FUCK the babylon system. Society promotes alcohol consumption, society promotes pharmaceutical pill popping frenzies, society endorses this behavior.

SOCIETY WILL REAP WHAT IT SEWS.

Fuck every one here who has anything against weed - eat my dick.

Alcohol is the destruction of all mankind, herb is the healing of the nation. Im with collins on this one.

This girl is nothing more than another drunk death statistic now, she can thank her wonderful parents for where she is today.

+1 Kiem, everyone gets the fact that you are pro legalization. The fact that not everyone responds to marijuana like you do needs to be taken into consideration. I have some friends that have gotten into accidents solely due to their weed smoking. To say it doesn't negatively effect your reaction time is absurd. It is obviously far less dangerous than drinking and driving. But being 100% sober while operating a motor vehicle is the responsible decision.

i'm sorry, but the parents are most surely at fault. they let their kid drive their range rover unlicensed after underage (even by european standards) drinking at a house party hosted by the parents of the deceased. i mean, how stupid can people be? sounds like the parents are suffering from the same bulletproof attitude that the child was.

there was a similar situation that happened at my high school here in dallas. affluent area, parent hosted house party (because somehow that's "safer"), 4 of the kids leave and get in a horrific accident that killed 3 people and left one with grave injuries. but much like the bravado of many of us at that age, the parents were super rich and had that aire of being untouchable because of status. they were perceived as the 'cool parents' because they let the kids come party at their multi-million dollar mansion...that is until 3 kids died on their watch.

if the inside story is true, the parents should go to jail for providing alcohol to a minor and manslaughter.
