Nissan 240sx: Misfiring cylinder. Car would shake like a bucking bull.
Jaguar X-Type (2002): Mass Air Flow Sensor (x3). Not an expensive repair. BMW 335i: HPFP, and still unresolved rattling coming from back seat.

I think that car was just a very poor design from the beginning. People thought it was cool that there would be a VW SUV but overlooked it's massive faults. I have no idea who at VW thought that it would be a good idea to build a 5100 LB SUV with a 240 HP engine with even less TQ. That combined with horrible fuel economy for such a small engine and the massive reliability issues made this car a nightmare.

but when you really think about it... its as if you would of gotten better MPG if you had a bigger lets say V8 engine that didnt have to scream every time you gas it. and its most likely the heavy weight stress that made most of the parts fail.

The new Touareg with the TDI motor seems to have all those quirks worked out and is much much lighter although reliability is yet to be seen but I wouldn't hold my breath.

1. '77 E24 (633 CSi) Even the local BMW dealer said it was a lemon.
2. '01 E38 (740iL) I loved that car, but it required $1000/mo avg to maintain. If I managed to squeak a month without a $1000 trip to the shop, something really major would happen the next month. But when it ran, it was heaven on wheels.

Windshield replaced, window motors replaced, HPFP, Two injectors, Turbos, secondary cat failing currently...oh, and I've owned it for 6mos. Also have a cup holder that needs replacing but I figure I'll wait til something else breaks. Thankfully it is CPO...still a. ROYAL. PAIN. IN. THE. ASS. |

Probably a used 1963 Pontiac Tempest convertible. It had a 4-cylinder that was half of a 389 with a 4-barrel carb. The transmission, quite likely outsourced from a Corvair, was in the rear end. Between transmission, clutch, and engine problems, it seldom ran right. Oh, it was the 1963 Motor Trend "Car of the Year".

2007 335i
2 brake light malfunctions 1 dynamic stability control malfunction 1 abs malfunction 1 torn ac drain --> flooded my interior carpets 1 shifter problem It has 44000 miles on it!!! Meanwhile, my DD, a 2005 acura RL has 152000 miles and has NEVER been to the dealership for anything but regular maintenance. I had a 2002 Acura TL-S that had the transmission fixed under a recall and never gave me any problems for 130000 miles. My mom used to have an E39 530 that was pretty awful. I dont think I'd ever buy a BMW again. My next ride will definitely be a GTR

I hope my Lexus break apart all the time so I can lemon the car and get whatever money I paid for it. However, the only issue I ever ha with my 2 Lexus was a burnt light bulb. Sigh.......they are super reliable but also super boring to drive everyday.

My first car which I got when I was 18 was my grandfather's old 1980 Merceded Benz C230! To be fair the car was 24 years old when I got it, but holy crap did I spend a fortune on it. It was just endless the amount of things that could go wrong and did g wrong with it. I drove it for a year before I managed to scrape some money together to buy another car and send the Merc to the scrap yard. It was pimp though

My 335i hands down, but I got the car knowing full well that it's not going to be reliable. I have no problem putting in the time and money to fix it up.
