yeah, I'm 17 and if i so much as hit someone's car in a parking lot slowly, and put a scratch, I'd leave my phone# on the windshield so I could pay for it (then again i love cars so I could feel their pain, or they might not care at all)

We will never have a perfect society, sorry to disappoint. Someone hit my car a few months back and never left a note and yes I was pissed but not blow your head off pissed.

All interesting comments, can see both sides frankly - kid was no angel, but didn't deserve to die for that. However, its almost a two for one deal as we get the hothead off the street too...at least for a little while thanks to the flawed justice system.
While the punishment doled out was extreme in the way it went too far, I think the justice system is the opposite extreme - it doesn't go far enough. And its the thing that's supposed to be protecting us. Fail. On the topic of this thread - has anyone ever read this article by Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear)? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/com...cle2982766.ece So much win! |

An argument could be made for premeditation in this case if a jury believes that the the driver carried the gun around for the purpose of exacting revenge when the opportunity arose. And when that opportunity arose (kid egging car), he carried out that premeditated purpose. Edit: LOL to those who post things like "I carry [Insert weapon] in my car so that I can [shoot/beat the **** out of] people who damage my car". Posts like this could be admissible evidence of premeditation and hence the death penalty (in death penalty states). GL explaining to a jury of 12 and the family of the victim that your post was made in jest ... Last edited by schoy; 11-09-2010 at 06:04 PM.. |
