I sleep like a log after I down some pasta or any kind of carb loaded dish. I just hate having to run it off the next day.

Well the the meat is chicken with a teriyaki sauce I make myself. I marinate the chicken in pineapple juice with some fresh minced garlic and ginger for awhile. Then you can sauté or stir fry or even grill if you like. I use dark sesame oil in the pan and a little garlic butter. Let it brown on the outside then I cut it up and let it finish cooking through out and add the sauce. If you want the sauce more syrupy just mix up a bit of corn starch and water then stir it in over a low/med heat and it will thicken up.

To make the sauce you use about 50/50 ratio of shouyu/soy sauce to mirin. Mirin is a sweet Japanese wine used in cooking that you should be able to find whatever isle the soy and stuff is on. You could also use a white wine with little issue I think, just add a bit of honey or dark unrefined sugar to sweeten it a bit if you want. Put it in a sauce pan on med heat or so and continue to stir to cook off the alcohol and any sugars you add but do not let it come to a boil. If its to sweet or salty just add more wine or water.

The salad is just a salad with a basic ginger dressing that I added some wasabi flavored sesame oil too. If you want the shaped vegetables you can order some vegetable cut outs on amazon. They import them from Japan.

For the rice I use Koshihikari rice, rinse it well before cooking and just follow the directions on the bag. But any rice will do.

Thanks for taking the time to write that. Gonna have to go try this out tomorrow since I'll have time to cook. Time needs to fast forward 15 hours.

Sure no problem. The stuff sprinkled on top is a furikake, which is basically a season salt used on rice mostly. If you have an asian market you might can find it. And I think places like whole foods carry a few as well. There are many different kinds. Or amazon again of course.

Yeah I actually stumbled upon two oriental markets that are kind of nearby. One has more varieties of fresh greens and the other has all packaged/canned imported products. I should be able to find everything I need. I thought that star-shaped vegetable was something I've seen in one of those markets but I guess you said it was a cutout.

Ah I just used a cut out on cucumbers and onions and such for the salad. Not sure what star shaped thing you may have seen. Perhaps star anise?

You can get them there from amazon. No idea if any store would carry them... maybe bed bath and beyond or williams sonoma or something.
