That is so true! I do feel bad for them sometimes...

One of my g/fs roommates is from a rich family (for Christmas she asked for a Lexus or BMW and a MacBook Pro and she drops money at Burberry like it is nothing). She is graduating this year and is going to be one of those people at hotels that give you the touristy info and set you up with reservations and crap like that. MAN is she going to have a rude awakening when she finds out how much money stuff costs

Actually the real reason Doctors and Engineers get paid lots is usually someone dies when they screw up and then the Lawyer make money to clean up the mess left behind.

I always remind the business people when they say they can not understand why Engineer can not be more of a risk taker like they are. Simple, Engineers equate risk with death, not money as business people do.

And if they get stiffed on their bonuses then i will gladly come back here and tell you guys. Im not saying it cant happen. Im just saying pay like that is possible.

People lie all the time about how much they make or what a company offers them to take a job. Unless they share their pay stub or tax return with you do not believe a word they say. These are the people who want everyone to believe they are making big money and they try to live the lifestyle but most of it is mortgage to the hilt and as soon as times turn bad they are out on the street.

The reason I know they lie, because coming out of college most student tend to be going for the same jobs, as it was when I was in college. It was interesting to hear the range of pays people got offered for the same jobs I was also interviewing for. In some cases the company told you in the interview what the pay would be and in other cases I got offers and no way a company is going to offer different starting pays for the exact same job.

Plus the ones making lots of money never ever share what they make since it could jeopardize their job, since management does not want people making less to finding out others are making more than them for the same job.

Take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Understood. I know how many liars are out there

At least she graduated college. I know a chick who's father buys her multiple 6 figure horses at a time and she gets anything she wants (very rich)... She couldnt even pass one class a semester at the local community college

I know one guy that got his undergraduatefrom Penn and the #1 B School in America in the late 90s and got a job with Goldmann Sachs. He lives in NYC. Even then, we never talked about starting salary. I do find it somewhat unlikely that these "kids" are telling you the truth about what they are making right out of college. If someone is driving a new Aston right out of college, I'd wager it's money they had before they got the job....ie family money.

I also find it very unlikely that anyone is willing to pay a fresh green bean with only a bachelor's degree over $100k when they haven't yet proven shit. I'm not talking about a new Wall Street Lawyer in the top of his class from Harvard. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it seems very unlikely, even with an engineering degree.

Most likely this is the case. Family money is nice, but i could never ask for a $80K car. Thats ridiculous lol

You hear it a lot because a lot of kids driving BMWs want to believe their parents are the shit, rule the world, can get them into anywhere, do anything, buy them anything, etc. I'm sure plenty more don't have connections than do. Money is great, but it doesn't get you everything. I'm sure most of these peoples connections aren't anything.

People talk big talk. Then mommy and daddy buy them shit.

No. I mean their parents are smart people. They work in the corporate world. Maybe in finance or something. They aren't the boss but they aren't the stupid newbs either. Maybe pulling in $150k a year. Chances are, they don't have any connections. They are just middle class America.
