There would be the answer for me.
The SL will endure longer. It's a classic. There is more room, even if just a bit. He is only 17 and could be an issue w/ an SL. The SLK55's seats do not look very comfy. Just looked at some prices on SL's.

I'm telling you, if your any age under 20 driving a Mercedes, you definately look like your rollin on mommy and daddys ride.
Bad mistake. Keep the 335i till you more mature. |

The problem with an SL is I'd have to go with like a 2003. I don't really want something that old. Plus the ABC suspension on those cars is very expensive to fix when it breaks, and it will break.
I like the Maserati but a family friend had one, an 04 with the SMGish transmission and had nothing but problems with it, plus it was very expensive to fix. Like some others said, I'm 17. I don't want a Cadillac. I don't really like Audi's so the S4 vert is out, I think the CLK is ugly unless its a Black Series. Aston DB7 would be like the Maserati to maintain, it has a reputation for being a nightmare. I test drove the SLK55 this weekend and the seats were actually really good. And I'd only get the SLK in black or silver, preferably black. The one in Atlanta is black. |

At the end of the day, the SLK is a downgrade from the 335i.

If you're moving to Alaska, a 4WD pickup truck is an upgrade over a 335i. If you all of a sudden adopt seven kids, a SUV is an upgrade over a 997. Etc., etc.. The OP sees the SLK as a car he wants at this moment in his life, and so it's an upgrade in his eyes..... |

That said, I like the SLK overall but because of its "soft" design it looks like a chicks car, especially with the big button nose.

My mom isn't too thrilled with me getting a 2 seater. She think they're "unsafe". So the parents are now discussing and I will have my answer tomorrow. My dad is going to call the Atlanta dealer tomorrow and negotiate and so pending that and the mom we'll see.

Okay... well the dad and mom have given me $2500 and said I can buy the car. Whatever else it costs is my responsibility and I'm fine with that. So now my dad is negotiating with the Atlanta dealer to come to a number that works for me.

I didn't want to spend any more than a total of $3500. My dad spoke with the dealer a few times proposing a difference of $3000 and then $3500 but he wouldnt budge. Said the best he could do would be like $5000. So for now I guess I am just going to keep looking for another one.

found one with waaay less miles [14k] but its 1200 miles away and its the same price. Do i try and negotiate down with the dealer in Atlanta or take the fluke deal 1200mi away and pay to ship the 2 cars.

I told myself I wasn't going to mod but I've already started buying stuff. Luckily I love the wheels and body kit on it already so I don't have to deal with that. For now its just all electronic gadgets and minor cosmetic mods. Si Quote:
