Ok, not saying wreckless, but dang how do you guys pull these speeds off. I feel lucky if I can get away with 75 mph where I live. Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Plano, Melissa are cop central, and state trooper central

95 Explorer 92-93 mph for 10 miles (gov kicked in, but that 4.0 still had a lot of room). But that my friends is scary in that suv. You can feel it lifting

05 330CI ZHP 95 mph passing a truck (so all of 5 seconds) and I felt lucky to do that. Cop was just at the next hill. But man that car is 95 seemed perfectly safe. But I bet factor in BMW's odo it may have been no faster than the explorer. Long period of + speed was 80 Car was new and I was about to puke in it. I went 80 for 10+ miles... man I was pushing the limits

03 Z4 112 mph on the tollway, but I wasnt driving

Dude, I'm not advocating speeding but a quick burst isnt going to kill you if your the only car on the road. Just dragging her up to 130mph and shutting down would be a thrill. But then again, you do know your area and it wouldnt be wise.

Exactly. I'm not running at any of these speeds for more than thirty seconds...

And I believe the 5th Amendment precludes my statements from being used as evidence against me.

I wasn't going after you personally, colonel1961. You might have all your angles covered. I just want to nip it in the bud before more folks start doing speed runs just to post their results on this thread. I don't think that should be part of this thread.

As for your 5th Amendment protections, posts like this would be considered "spontaneous confessions" and would be completely admissible in court, as long as the DA could authenticate them as coming from you. You couldn't be charged with speeding based upon these posts alone, there would have to be collaborating evidence. But if you did hit a family of 4 at 155 mph and killed them, these posts would be used against you to prove that your actions were premeditated and reckless, and showed a pattern of behavior that would justify a longer sentence.

As I said, perhaps my syntax was imprecise in the post to which you were offended. I did not mean to imply that I was trying to set any personal speed records just to post them on this forum. That assertion is puerile and ludicrous. I drove at those speeds in Aston Martins and Ferraris long before I had ever heard of a 1 Series or joined this forum.

Again, I don’t want to kill anyone, including myself, and consider myself a safer driver at 130 mph in my cars than most people are at 70 mph in theirs. I have outstanding driving skills, reflexes, sight, ad nauseam, and only open it up when the conditions are safe and appropriate.

I was also being a bit facetious about my 5th Amendment rights, hence the emoticon after the post (and having a father-in-law and brother-in-law as attorneys) but concur with your assessment that it might show a pattern of recklessness, et cetera. I further assert that it would be impossible to prove in court that these posts were made by me - whomever I may be.

And, lastly, you avow that you’re not attacking me personally, but the inference is there on my end…

Let's end this discussion, capice?

I knew what ya meant, but still, getting to 130 takes some time (less than be if you have a 135 for sure) and roadway. Even when its been perfect to do it (2:30am with no cars within eyesight on flat road, so miles away from anyone) I pass cops. The like to hide behind overpasses, in the ditch, or behind a bridge.

I have yet my self to go past 100, so the bug is itching me to get it out of my system, just no place around here to safely do it. I know a few places I could do it, but they have traffic and I dont feel like being on the news

I am just in awe that you guys have been able to do it, reguardless of right or wrong. May just have to get it to a track to get this bug outta me

I guess it all depends where u live. FL has the most dangerous drivers hands down. On the interstate, everyone is doing 15mph over. That puts them at 80mph in a 65. A little push and your near triple digits to pass. If your not going 10-15 over, YOUR the dangerous driver.

Haha..you be quiet. Your no stranger to triple digits Mr. Ferrari. I think most Lambos 1st gear run straight up to 70mph. I wouldnt be shocked if your car was similar.

It doesn't suck...but I've seen the light! No more speeding for me!

p.s. a couple of kids (i.e., younger than me) in our neighborhood chipped in and bought a Gallardo. Very nice! I'm not a Lambo kinda guy, but it's undeniably hip - and has an exhaust note that is unmatched!

Stage 3 Audi S4's can hit around 120mph in the 1/4 mile from a dead stop so I'm pretty sure it didn't take a friend of mine more than a mile to go 0-160.. then shut it down quick.

Limiter kicked in at 110? Gesh I took my old 1996 Accord to 130 on highway 85 at 2am once. Never again with such crappy tires...

Alright here's another story to tell all! About 2 years when my godfather purchased his 72 E1800 Volvo we took it out that day on interstate 101 and hit 110 on 20 year old tires. Boy was that a nail biter. Once we got some rubber on it I personally got it to 120 in 4th gear overdrive on 4000rpm's.

I've got up to about 120 in my current PT Cruiser GT, but only in a very short burst. However I have driven through the dessert in long stretched exceeding 100mph. Unfortunately I got pulled over once doing close to 110mph. Luckily the cop was kind and only wrote the ticket for 25 over (i.e. 90 in a 65) and didn't bust me for reckless driving.

I was running the interstate one day and I had one of those cars I could not get away from. You know the ones I'm talking about. I would speed up and he would go with me. If I slowed down he would get in front and slow down too. I sped up to 110 trying to get away from him. When I started slowing down I realised I had an officer on my bumper. He passed me as I slowed down. He did not wave but he could tell what I was trying to do. He just drove on. (I don't like running in a pack)

Top Speed isn't everything. I actually like the rush of a 0-85 myself! Nothing like being in a car that pulls so hard you can feel the G's push you into the seat!
