I found the old thread I was thinking of. Maybe it's useful to you:

You are correct there are no manual buttons for the drivers bolsters it's done through the screen.

The passenger seat has stationary bolsters only. As I mentioned above, the passenger seat does not even have memory.

If it’s an i5 M60 there should be standard memory for driver and passenger seat on the interaction bar.

From BMW’s list of standard features:

Multi-contour front seats with power thigh support, backrest width adjustment and head restraint height; includes front seat lumbar support and memory system for steering wheel, front seats and exterior mirror positions

We have memory buttons on the door panel on both the driver and passenger sides. When I go into sport mode, the bolsters move in on both seats.

My car has memory on both driver and passenger doors. I think it's a feature of the luxury seat package.

In this thread, there was a many questions around what "comfort adjustment" button does. I was picking up my G61 Touring this week, with luxury seats (Veganza) and I was told that this actually increases softness of the seat.

I tried turning it off. I think it made the seat slightly firmer but it was barely noticeable.

What part of the seat? The feature description makes it sound like the seat bottom, but we all know that the air bladder for sure known to be in the seats is the lumbar support adjustment in the seat back.

It was the seat cushion. It seemed to firm up in the center.

I commented on another thread observing this same sotfening from the button on/off. It was so small I started to convince myself it was a placebo effect, but have toggled it a few more times and think there is something real going on.

Interesting stuff. I turned mine off a few days ago to see if there was a difference, and I couldn't detect anything. I'll try turning it back on later this week and see if I feel any difference... again. Maybe I need to be more like the main character in The Princess and the Pea in order to feel this level of difference. LOL

Any noises/vibrations happening like you get inflating/deflating the lumbar support? A good guess would be that it would work similarly.

I don't hear anything.

Nope. Good question to ask.

If I were to describe what I thought it was - It felt like a very slow release where I sank a tiny bit further down into the seat. When I disable the button - a few moments later it feels a bit more supportive.

How it’s doing this without any type of compression noises would be beyond me and a data point to suggest back towards a placebo effect.

A year later, I still can detect no difference from the “comfort adjustment” in my M60.

And, it galls me that they call them multi-contour seats. Those who have had them know these are not them. There is no articulation at the top of the seat.

We just got a new 2025 X5 to replace our other car (2022 X5) and the seats are much more comfortable than the M60. I love the driving dynamics of the M60, but the cheapening of materials and decontenting of the cars by BMW in newer models is really apparent comparing both to the old X5 and particularly the LCI 2025 X5. Frustrating.

Yea. I hear / agree with you on this. I’ve been saying for a long time the LCI x5 is prob the best mixture bmw will give us for a longggg time. It’s got the new tech while keeping the majority of the higher quality interior materials. I know there is a pre-lci camp, but I’d rather have some of the latest and greatest and give up the buttons.

I felt much more impressed with the i5 seats during short test drives. Now living with the car for multiple hour trips, they are cheaper seats for sure. And have far less adjustability to them. Easy point of reference is how firm the headrests are. Compare them to the g05 multi contour seats - night and day. One feels straight from a entry level brand , the other high end luxury.
