I am not ready to go full electric because I am a grown man child that likes loud noises. But I will say I dig the old school exterior look. The interior is whatever and will probably look nothing like that so I don't care. But if they keep the general shape of the car, it might be pretty cool. Add some more aggressive M car styling and maybe this could be something I'd be interested in trying.

Personally, I like it a lot. I feel like designs have been either derivative or so overly aggressive it just feels tacked on.
This car is clean and simple, I think its very fitting for the Neue Klasse label. I will be interested to see these in person.

I love it. Simple and elegant. That was how BMW used to do things. Just love it. I hope the production car can replicate this.
It makes the current line up of BMWs look like a freak show. |

It's not bad but it sort of looks like a generic sedan. I'm not seeing much BMW here. No hofmeister, no strong character line on the side, no angel eyes, etc.
The horizontally stretched kidneys is the most interesting part of the design, otherwise this could easily be a Volvo or Audi.

Really, an interior of a Tesla? Good luck.
Exterior looks way better than anything they sell today in 3-5-7 series, cant wait for production car to see how they water it down. Side note: BMW ads are woke af today.

Is it just me or does this thing look like the old Lincoln MKZ? FWIW, I don’t like it.

the cars I doodled back in the 1980’s looked like this, and that’s not a good thing that their take on “futuristic” designs were conceptually born that long ago by a [then] school-aged boy

Trouble is that the Chinese are going to be able to make an equivalent at much less cost, given they have the rare earths, raw materials, full battery supply chain and cheap labour. MG are selling all the 4EVs they can build into Europe at a significantly lower price point than the equivalent car from European manufacturers. I can’t help thinking that manufacturers like BMW have a massive challenge on their hands to compete with Tesla in the US and MG in Europe. No doubt they can make a car like this, but it won’t succeed if it’s $30K more than an equivalent Tesla in the US and MG in Europe. This is all speculation on my part of course, but while I do like the design, I feel that there’s not much to distinguish it from the next generation of cars announced from all the other manufacturers, and so the focus will move to price. Something on which BMW can’t compete.
Electric cars (and I have one alongside my M235i Convertible) are quickly developing to all look very similar. The next generation announcements seem to have a Blade Runner sort of design philosophy, but they all seem homogeneous all the same. And the tech in even the cheaper models includes most of what anyone needs. It’s hard to tell them apart and for many buyers, that’s no problem - they are utility products designed to get you from A to B as comfortably as possible. Styling is secondary/irrelevant. The only thing I’m disappointed about is the displays. I thought by now they were going to be integral to the dash, and moulded into the fabric of the vehicle. But that line of development seems to have stalled. The only surprise is the 3D iCockpit Peugeot has built into all their latest models, which I quite like, but isn’t anything like the wrap-around instrumentation that was predicted as the future.

I'm okay with it. There are components of the design that I'm not sold on, but I have also been looking at concept cars for decades and you have to take some details with a large grain of salt.
I for one support a return to less venting and surface features, but most of all THERE'S NO LONGER ACRES OF GLOSS BLACK PLASTIC ON THE OUTSIDE!! *EDIT* I also applaud BMW for showing their EV plans and next design direction in something that is closer to what the size a 3 series used to be. |

I don’t understand why people expect Bmw to build cheap cars. No one expects Mercedes or Porsche to build cheap cars.
Bmw is a luxury up market automobile manufacturer. They do not cater to the average Joe they’re catering to a select demographic people and a six-figure income range. |

I don’t get why people have their shorts in a knot.
It’s clearly a throwback to the 2000cs from the mid 60’s |

BMW today is the ultimate driving troll. Bad press is good press and vice versa.

I like the profile and the glass roof. I also wish we could get more playful interior colors like that yellow. But I hate the stick-on iPad so much, especially when all buttons are gone.

I didn’t think they could make something uglier than the XM. But here we are
Ok, upon second look XM is definitely uglier. But this thing looks like it was designed by friggin’ Lincoln/Mercury in the early 2000’s |
