Agreed. The sure-fire way (no pun intended) to lose one's rights is to be ignorant that one has those rights in the first place. I'm sure it's been stated more eloquently by someone else. Amusing how so many who were worried that the Patriot Act undermined their Constitutional protections believe that the right to bear arms is some backwards, redneck ideology.

I posted a few pics: In the case of a carjacking, just a slight lean forward and you can have your hand on the grip. No visible arm motion to tip off the attacker. Incidentally, this is the Kel-Tec P-3AT pistol (http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/p3at.htm), the lightest .380 auto pistol made. With Federal Premium ammo, it has just enough stopping power to be effective, and is incredibly easy to conceal. If I am traveling to another city/state, I will also carry a .40 cal. in the glove compartment. Exactly. I have also trained continuously in the martial arts for the last 11 years. Knock on wood, I have never been in a fight, and my goal is to never be in a fight. But I have the advantage of having trained, and I carry that responsibly, too. I like this thread...lets get back to the point and not listen to the hippies
I usually keep my taurus 9mm under the arm rest or in the side compartment. Like most states you have to have the gun concealed in the car... It really just depends on where i am going.

I prefer the 45. over every thing else though. The Glock 30 holds 10 rounds of 45. in a very compact package. I only wish there was a way to conceal my Mk23... then I'd be set lol.

I didn't realize that bmw owners were getting car jacked all over and feared for their safety. I think a whole lot of training should happen before most people should be carrying. Yes I am well trained.

I carry mine because I know in this world (USA or not) crime is abundant and everywhere. I am just prepared, has nothing to do with fear. It's also very fun to put some lead down range.
I go to the range once a week and I plan to eventually get some Blackwater training (very good place to get some gun training in BTW).

Say what you will, but the main reason people carry a weapon (in this context) is because of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of being unprepared, fear of feeling powerless, whatever, call it what you like but it all boils down to fear. In this case your first sentence indicates that you are afraid of becoming a victim. Your second sentence indicates fear of being unprepared for such a circumstance. I'm certainly not saying these fears aren't justified in today's society. The predominate reason a person carries a sidearm is because of fear. There are of exceptions of course, the main ones being sport, criminal activity, and gun collectors. BTW, I'm not saying that carrying a firearm is a bad thing in and of itself. If you are a responsible individual and well enough trained, then no problem, but let's not be disingenuous as to the reasons people carry weapons. Last edited by radix; 12-29-2008 at 04:52 AM.. |
