I agree with everything in your second paragraph. M cars give their Porsche counterparts a good run, even though i no longer find them compelling for non-performance metrics-based reasons.

You didn’t mention which Porsches you want, but it sounds like they’re GT’s and Turbos based on the ‘2x or 3x’ comment. If you really want to experience Porsche with a BMW budget, the base Caymans and Boxsters are really, really good - although I’d get a NA flat-6 and not one of the turbo I4’s. I’d also love to recommend an old air cooled 911 but all of those are suddenly out of reach price-wise

Amazing cars that are so fun to drive! Have had 4 9-5s and 1 Ng9-3. The 9-5 is an amazing platform for tuning!

My wife has a 2020 S too. She loves it and we're sharing it on the days that she wfh until my M5 is built. It's not bad at all, the ride is nice and it's a pleasant car to commute in. Decent power but I agree, the infotainment is terrible. It's sooo slow, feels like 2005 or something. I hear the new models are an improvement. It doesn't matter though, she wants an F-Type next.

Cool! My wife didn't like the FPace at first but after feeling the power, she changed her mind. She's really bothered by the infotainment. It is so inconsistent. Seems the software was coded, thrown out to the customers as testbed and we'll fix as we go along. PiviPro has upgraded interface and looks nice but is still buggy. U see alot of complaints on their forum for such an expensive vehicle. Still love how it drives! No issues with engine...just the infotainment. We get to enjoy both...cool by me!

My father had a 2004 9-5 back in the day. It was the first European car in our family. While I was too young to drive then, I really appreciated the Saab brand experience. Unlike the rest of GM's divisions, Saab still functioned with a decent amount of independence. I loved the interior design and little quirks like Saab night panel. The 9-3 was a real looker then and still turns my head now on the rare occasion I see one.

I really feel like Saab had the same potential for a turnaround that Volvo experienced. Under the right ownership anything is possible. GM, being the toxic company they are, would have none of it.

Props on her driving something different from the sea of German and Japanese SUVs.

FLAT 4. How embarrassing, i have no excuse. As penance, here are the pics of my Porsches that were requested :

No hate to 718 owners, I'm sure you enjoy your cars. It just isn't for me, and def wouldn't be the first Porsche I'd recommend to someone looking to experience the brand for the first time.

My dad's Macan S is just like your's but in Miami Blue. I've never seen purple, that is neat.

I pushed him hard to get a Boxster but he's a little out of shape and felt it was too difficult to get into. A Porsche sedan priced in the territory of the Macan is what he wanted, but they don't offer that, so Macan S it was.

Yeah, it would probably eat into some other unnamed brands sales too much...

A compact ICE Porsche sport sedan is the gift that car enthusiasts never got.

I definitely love how the Macan drives, but it still feels compromised. I feel a little wary taking corners at 10/10s, I sit too high, it feels a little big, it's AWD only, and the weight distribution is ~53/47 front-biased. I'm splitting hairs here, but I'm just curious to see what magic Porsche could do in a smaller lighter and lower package.

Really? I think the 718 is absolutely the perfect Porsche for someone looking to get into the brand (ask me how I know ). Its the least expensive sports car they have and offers arguably the most pure driving experience, with supercar level handling and feel being a mid-engine design.

Of course if money is no object, then sure go straight for the 911 in whatever flavor your prefer. But for simply looking to get into the brand and experience a Porsche, I cant think of a better way to do that than a 718.

Nissan for me. I love how their entire lineup is boring cars your grandparents would buy, but then there's something crazy like the GTR in there

I grew up in a Toyota family, so that's naturally what I was drawn to when I began driving. 4Runners and Land Cruisers are still two of my favorite vehicles, for the purpose they are built and meant to be used for nothing else compares for me.

I have horses, so a pickup is a necessity for me. I have the same F350 I've had since I was a teenager, but if I went out and bought a brand new pickup today it would definitely be a Chevy for their styling and reliability.

I was only bitten by the BMW bug two years ago at 28. I never really considered owning/driving "luxury" cars until I began working at BMW dealer. The very first time I drove a BMW it was like a completely different driving experience from anything else I'd ever driven. I quickly became obsessed, now I've owned two with a 3rd on order.
