911s do have the superior rear traction but the Cayman shines with its balance. It can rotate on its axis and inspire the greatest of confidence. It will never be labeled a "widow maker" regardless of how much power it has.

I have owned several 911s, and several Caymans and do feel like the Porsche's mid-engine chassis is as good as it gets across any manufacturer to build one. That said, I absolutely love the way a 911 drives and breaks away. It feels incredibly good.

As a "new" 911 owner (2009) it is taking some getting used to. The front end feels a little floaty, maybe not the right word but if I enter a corner fast i can subtly feel the the front gain and lose traction, whole car "wiggles" a bit. It's subtle but it is there. Then on the gas, I keep thinking "this is too much gas" but grip, more grip and ....... grip. Just so much grip.

The car clearly communicates it's experience though, not so much in one's arse but you feel it through the steering wheel, you can definitely read the car through the steering wheel. Hard to explain.

Now my PZERO's are 7 years old and nearly half worn so suspect a new set of PS4s will maybe alter things a tad.

Depends on the polar moment. It's designed right. Ever driven a 914 at full tilt? I made the mistake of lifting in a turn - ONCE.

After doing a full 360 without leaving the road surface, I understand the polar moment of inertia MUCH better. 914, low moment. 718, normal moment.

I would be very careful doing any high performance driving on those tires. 7 years old is a long time when they are already worn. Tires are the one thing you should never skimp on, it's the only thing connecting you to the road. Porsche won't CPO tires older than 6 years, Ferrari won't CPO them older than 4 years. There's a reason for that. You should be able to get a set of PS4S through Costco for around $1200-ish installed.

I'm aware of that, i don't drive anywhere near the limit anyway, it's Toronto, where the hell can I do that?

PS$s for $1200?? Even in USD that is a pipe dream.

Best offer I have had, installed, balanced, disposal fees etc is $2,100 all in including taxes.

I’m in the US yes, no idea what things cost in Canada. I recently did a set of PS4S for my FF which has larger tires and it was $1800 including taxes and install. I’d think an older 911 should be $1200-1500 range here.

I myself made the mistake of turning off the traction control in my M2 in the rain because I believed the perfect 50/50 BMW marketing hype would keep me safe. No amount of counter steering could have prevented my personal 360° embarrassment.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I've been track driving for 20 years. I NEVER EVER turn the DSC all the way "off" in a BMW. Nissan, yes. Porsche, yes. But BMW? Nope. I don't know why, but overdrive a modern BMW into a corner with DSC "off"? - You're going for a ride as a passenger. If you're doing it on purpose? Sure, fine. But if you're trying to drive 9/10ths at a track on anything but dry surface and brand new tires? Good luck.

Really should keep it on on any performance car on the street in the rain. I cannot imagine what would happen if I did that in my Hellcat in the rain LOL. I put the land yacht in eco mode in & rain & snow

I tried to get one before the M4. I ended up with the M4 with Chevrolet plastic in the interior. Porsche was going to take 12 to 18 months per the local dealer. Dad just flipped a 18 GT2RS at a 35k premium. Porsche. Like Hollywood moviestar poontang. You want some, but can never get it.
