Section 79, Speed measuring warning devices is what you want to read https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90h08 I also like to drive fast, actually speed is the only rule of the road that I violate and I agree, driving like a dick a no-no. |

Is that not what I said ?
I did say they where illegal, comes complete with a fine, ticket conviction and of forefit of device <SMH> I'm a member on that site, there are also a lot of LEO's, lawyers and loads of people who deal and help out with tickets. I've found the info great. and the website & folks often quote legislation, to help people out. Of course there is no need for you to check it out if your cool on looking up legislation, however, some interpretations of the reg's does need a professional eye and some folks may not know how or what. Whatever works Quote:

No worries, i just find that there is often incomplete or wrong information being posted on those sites, so generally the best bet is to read what the actual law says and look for interpretations afterwards.

When LEO's are posting on a forum in anonymity, they usually tell all
I've already quoted a website (Ontario) where this is being done helped me loads of times so far, in being ticket free, past 4 years and knowing what to do when stopped It's no secret, but they just can't come out on CNN and tell you |

The problem is the law is written for LAWYERS
and most people who have a problem, usually dont know where to look and even if they do are bamboozled, hence why they seek out a lawyer. There's much much more to the law than reading it Or should I saw, a lot more to the law when your trying to figure out HOW not to get a ticket for something, and most people are too flustered from shock when they get a ticket. The old adage " A man who is his own lawyer has a fool for his client" Now with google it's different, you can google up terms. But search engines and black and white definitions are far different from standing in front of a judge or going to a first hearing. But as I said, horses for courses and the information was just put out there. |

They aren't secrets. It's no secret where enforcement is higher and why. As public employees, they go where the city or state tells them to go due to public risk and danger. The closer you are to residential areas in cities and the higher the amount of traffic, usually the higher the enforcement. The more rural the area with space population, the lesser the enforcement. The closer I get to home, the less I want to speed, to my own neighborhood where there's no point in going above the limit when a kid or a dog might jump out from behind a bush. The more you stick out as the one car going faster than everything else (lots of people convince themselves they aren't this person, even when they are a majority of the time), the higher the chance of getting pulled over. I see lots of people always rationalizing that "well, the traffic in x city always moves at 80mph" and when I go to those places, it's flat out not true. There might be a few people going that fast, but usually not the majority and it's simply what someone has rationalized in their mind to justify what speed they go. It's not that I drive 55mph or that I never hit the gas, but it's simply pretty easy to avoid tickets and enforcement if you know what's actually trying to be enforced. The guys cruising 20+mph over with radar detectors, yep, they are absolutely looking for you, you are #1 on their target list, especially in any kind of populated area. Lots of people are just "asking for it" and they seem to get comfortable because for a while, they have "gotten away" with it.
With all of my recent cars, people come up to me and say "wow, if I had that I'd be getting tickets all the time, how do you not get tickets?". It's seriously not hard. It takes self-control, but not that much. Of course, if you live in a highly urban area and simply never get out of that urban area, well you are kinda screwed. That's the price you pay for living there and your options for "going fast" are more limited. Not non-existent, but more limited. If you realize your limitations, no problems.

Still useful here in TX. I have my up-to-date 9500ix on the windshield at all times. Yeah, I get some false alerts, but most issues with that I have stored for the routes I take throughout South and Central Texas.

I haven't used a radar detector in 20 years -- and the only speeding tickets I've received since that time, with one exception, were on motorcycles. Maybe it's just my luck, but I think the key is knowing where, when, and by how much to speed.
Below highway speeds, I generally follow the 10 percent rule: no more than 10 percent above the posted limit. Most cops can't be bothered by a few MPH because of measurement error (your speedometer, their radar/lidar/etc.) On the highway, no more than 9mph over the posted limit. Why 9? The cutoff for a higher fine -- and, thus, more incentive for a cop to actually pull you over after clocking you -- is 10mph over in most states. In certain areas I'll go even faster. Example: I just got back from a 3,200-mile road trip in my 718 Cayman. I regularly went 20-25mph over the posted limit on twisty roads, especially ones with fairly high grades. Reason? Cops are too busy negotiating the curves to ping you, and there's almost no place for them to lie in wait. Another example: Passing on a two-lane highway. I hit triple digits regularly doing this. On two occasions I was passed in the opposite direction by LEOs soon after the pass -- then they saw what I needed to pass. Never even saw a LEO look my way or flash its lights, much less turn around. I am definitely curious about how well Waze works in iOS 12/CarPlay... but honestly, it's near worthless in rural areas. Just be smart. Detectors are just tickets waiting to write themselves. I'd simply rather be smart.

I have been desensitized to the X and K band alerts on my V1. I did have the latest update done and it help a bunch. I have since started running one of the BlueTooth programs on my phone to get the GPS features. In Missouri, we still have County Mounties, City and Highway Patrol using K (very few). I tend to use the detector most when in the Z4 on rural two lanes and with that situation, I slow for every alert as it is usually something. I really like that some tractors, combines and MO DOT work vehicles have a X band beacon of some sort. If KA goes off I instantly slow, K, X or laser not so much.

This. I don't spend too much time on the highway anymore (work in NYC) but generally paying attention has served me well. Come to think of it, the only times I have received tickets were when I WAS using a detector.
My S4 came with a fully installed K40 system which was very cool but 99% of the time the alarms were false. It's the parking and blind spot sensors that ruin it.

Watched the police run down two people yesterday in a construction zone. Again, one of those areas where they are absolutely looking for people going faster than 5 above.

That’s coincidental, just yesterday my Uniden R1 picked up a weak Ka in a work zone - parked right in front of the work trucks a county LEO.

Been with Stinger for over 4 years now in Hong Kong.
http://www.stinger.com/ Patch antenna in the bumper for all the K/Ka/X bands, Laser sensors around the license plate area in the front and the rear. If I get hit by laser, I have a shield to brake for 4 seconds before the jammer is turned off

$$$$$
stinger never really lived up to the hype, there are windshield mount RD's that are better and stingers laser jammer cant touch anti-laser priority for a fraction of the price
