Because until now iPhone has not had exchange active sync. With V2.0 it does which will change alot of peoples views. Personally, having used an iphone for 8 months, the only real downside is that you actually have to look at it to work it. With my old Nokia I could push buttons without looking and navigate around it pretty accurately.

Would I go back though - nope, never.

Yeah, it does. I am still going to upgrade to the new one, but I did send an email off to one of many Steve Job's drones( I doubt he actually reads his own email) containing my complaint and inquiring about upgrading from the old one to the new one.

yeah I probably will still be thinking about getting the new one , only I'll wait a little longer to see how people will work around it. I just hate being forced into useless and limiting cell phone contracts (eventhough I'm a current AT&T customer myself). And what's up with the 'penalties', how the heck will they impose that? Will they charge up your credit card? I'm guessing, there will be no way to walk into an Apple store and buy the iphone in cash.

The 1G iPhone was credit card only, so I assume it will be the same for the 3G for credit reasons.

PS: I might see you in line depending on which Apple Store you go to.

The fact that this doesn't have video conferencing I'm not going to upgrade. Asia has the capabilities to do this a long time ago. I'm surprised they didn't include this on the new 3G iPhone.

I don't care so much about video conferencing via phone with another person, but the fact that iChat is getting pretty popular with people (I guess you can say they're the samething) but I'm surprised Apple didn't take that into consideration. I'm sure they will when they release the next gen iPhone sometime next year.

Apple can add iChat anytime they want( it will probably be WiFi dependent like iTunes is) through a software update. I am just surprised they haven't done it now as it is one of the most request features.

The price finally got reasonable, so I may give it a try. I've been with AT&T for years via my work phones, and they've been great for coverage the last couple years. I currently have a BBerry 8820 and a Curve, but may try the iPhone for shits and grins.

Well, I just shipped out my iPhone today so for the next month I'm stuck using this POS Panasonic GD55 since I have given every other old phone of mine to someone as a hand me down. The icing on the cake is that there isn't an Apple store here in the dump of Wilmington where I moved so it looks like I'll have to drive 2 hours next month just to get the damn phone... God, how I miss Long Island.

I was talking to a colleague today and she agreed that in addition to MS Active Sync, a Blackberry "connector" type of software loaded on the phone would make it a no-brainer for a lot of people to get this. Of course, RIM would probably charge Apple an arm & three legs for that capability

Will we be able to purchase a 3G iphone without extending the AT&T contract?

Initial reports say that you won't be able to purchase a 3G phone unless you sign another 2-year agreement with AT&T.

I will wait to see what happens on July 11th. I am thinking about giving the Android platform a try though .
