The first paragraph makes no sense to me. If a firm charged partners' rates for associates' work (delegation), then that firm would quickly go out of business. Not a dreamworld. My bosses delegate to me, and sometimes I delegate further. Each time someone lower on the totem pole does work at my firm, the client saves money. Competition among firms requires this.
