Yeah, I think that's fine. Especially since you are aware of the issue. So if it does happen to you (Not likely) at least you know what to do.

Here is the update info for the vehicles affected as well as the addendum to the chronology.

I just checked my 530 which was to be delivered on August 10th and showed the break recall and the status just changed to zero recalls. The dealer says they still show the recall on their end and BMW is supposed to be shipping parts in the next week or so.

Did someone purchase their affected car after the IBS recall on Feb 2024? If the dealer didn't disclose this prior to selling the car, is this considered sales fraud? Can they be held accountable for it? My 2024 530i ACV tanked, I can't even sell it now, which I only learned today when shopping for deals to sell the car due to moving out of state.

My main concern is that ACV on already owned cars currently tanked, I don't know if it will go up. Sorry if I make no sense, I try to learn about this more. I tried to sell it for other reasons and realized I was offered $45k because of the Stop Sale, whereas I bought it for $65k just 5 months ago. |

THanks for the intel - this is really helpful. I feel that we’ve seen a few issues here (maybe an i5, definitely on the i7 forum, elsewhere?) where drivers have got a brake failure type message and had a hard time stopping the car without stomping on the brake pedal - in other words from the sample of drivers that post on bimmerpost, we’ve had a few “hits”. It seems higher than 0.5% but I guess we’ll see how this all shakes out.

1. your car is not affected by the recall, therefore there is nothing the dealer needs to disclose. If anything they could have mentioned that your car is not affected by the current recall because it has already been checked.... And 2. when a recall is issued by the manufacturer, any vehicles currently under construction will have the issue verified and, if necessary, corrected before they leave the factory during post-production inspections. So again, nothing to disclose. Sorry about your (Hopefully Temporary) loss. But I don't think a lawsuit would get you anything if that's where you are thinking. Any lawyers in the group? |

Check with Carvana on value; Sell it to them. They're not affected by the recall. |

I would think as long as the car is safe to drive, and per the recall it is, they would schedule you for the repair, send you o n your way, and order the parts. Once parts arrive they then call you back to schedule a repair. That way they don't have to give you a loaner for an unspecified time.

Some information on August 19th, from a BMW CA and auto reviewer, speaking about the stop sale.

At least he admitted he had no information and was just guessing as to what will happen. If dealers would just be honest and tell customers that they don't have any information yet and that BMWNA is working on a remedy it would be a lot less confusing and frustrating for people since there is so much bad information floating around. Unfortunately the desire to sell a vehicle is so string they feel they need to say something even if it is just made up.

So far there have been no accidents reported due to the issue so hopefully that continues and all stay safe since it will be a long time until all of the affected vehicles are repaired.

Maybe it's just me then. I learned to drive in the 80's on a Dodge Dart Swinger with a V-8, non-powered drum brakes, Manual Transmission, and no power steering. Oh, and Bias Ply tires, not radials. Of course I also did my own oil and filter changes, and changed my own flat tires (Still do. I think it's embarrassing to me for a man to call roadside assistance to change a flat tire for him as long as he is capable.) Guess it's true what they say about us Gen X-ers being more adaptable.

I hear you. I wouldn't let my wife drive it under those conditions even by herself. I still would. I just wouldn't let her.

Sounds like there has been a spate of recalls of late? I am new to BMW and surprised to learn of this. But too late! Will enjoy my ride when it arrives.

Bumping this up. Any new info on this fiasco? Is BMW or the dealer offering any financial assistance, such as waiving lease extension costs while awaiting the fix?
