I think you are confusing empathy with guilt.

That depends on which of the two examples you attribute to guilt and which to empathy.
But VER in his statement sure ment one of the two more than the other, whereas the GRO incident could only play on empathy (which is why it's a very different situation)

Right, I should have been more clear. Hamilton didnt feel guilty because he didnt think he was wrong and thats his choice. So all there was to feel was empathy for Max, who was fine.

That totally sets the attitude of the MERC team regarding the safety of other drivers....winning the title is more important. Well, we'll see, the season is still long.

It didn't seem a big deal at all...he walked away from the crash and went for check up. Lets be honest if the tables had been reversed and Hamilton had been in the wall while Verstappen went on to win at a "Dutch" race...Verstappen would have celebrated just the same in front of his fans. |

The first is that they created the no moving in the braking zone rule or, as I call it, The Maxi-Paddle Arresting Regulation. Next is the fact that drivers give Maxi-Pad very wide berth when he is anywhere in the area. It's literally Self Preservation.

Silverstone got over 1300 posts. Hungary may catch up with extended break. Guys...you're never going to convince those having opposing views. The Hamilton fans can't handle that F1 is no longer a Mercedes parade. And Max fans are upset that the last two races were a disaster (caused almost entirely by Mercedes). At least F1 is gradually returning to racing as opposed to a boring two-hour "follow the leader" parade. There's finally some competition, and that's more entertaining.
sidebar: "Sir" Lewis??? Come on, who does this? Is Mick Jagger referred to as "Sir Mick"? Not impressed. And that, as Dennis Miller would say, is my opinion...I could be wrong. |

Oh, so now what the FIA says matters?
FIA also said there was no intent. Otherwise the penalty would be much harsher. Typical Maxi Pad, only using the rules/logic when they benefit Max.

No intent doesn't mean no blame. HAM caused the crash because he was reckless. He didn't follow the racing line because according to the FIA his racing line wouldn't have hit the apex (he went way too fast for that, a typical do or die maneuvre), and he didn't use the room VER left him, which was easily 1,5 times the width of the car on the inside. You can also see the difference in how HAM later passed LEC in the same corner, but using that space on the inside and hitting the apex. So he knows how it should be done.

And just like I said in the Silverstone thread minutes after the incident, boy racer now knows his place.
Get your elbows out and expect the same. I suspect the whole grid will follow suit when around boy wonder. ALO and HAM battle for 4th in Hungary showed respect. Give it and you shall receive it. Edited for time... https://streamable.com/wvycl9

Yes, but if it was intentional the penalty would have been much harsher.
Rammed, implies intent....so what you and others are saying here below was factually incorrect? Quote:

As I posted many pages ago...the FIA issued Lewis with the SECOND most LENIENT penalty available to them, fact, supposition had RB not made such a fuss the FIA would have let it go for what it was....a racing incident

Had the Red Bullying 16Bully remained on the track, it is highly unlikely that any penalty would have been applied.

Not sure what you meant by that response, but I don't plan on joining this thread. I have a life. I actually admit that I have read very little of this thread, but was amused by its length.

It can be intentional and unintentional. Just as Bottas' brakes locked up and rammed into the back of Norris. Does this imply intent? |

Are we still on about Silverstone? Geez…even the drivers involved are over it.
