Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't we arrived to the general sentiment that BMW could've just delivered all the cars with the affected diffs, and had the swaps done at our individual dealerships?

Especially since they've repeatedly said it's not a safety issue?

I find this the boiled down reason is why all of us are unhappy, right?

I just don't get it...

Same thoughts here, don't trust the dealer to replace it.

Ordered in March, delayed during in production for 7 weeks. Finally ready. No ED.

Unsurprisingly, I was given no notice that it was close to being ready. But - I guess it's not time to complain

Set it to sport+ and don't be afraid of the gas pedal

In all seriousness though, can you elaborate some more?

So I've read this whole thread and it's a bit hard to collect what's what at this point. Here's my question. Has anyone been compensated anything (loaner, payments, etc) by BMW of North America under conditions similar to mine:

2016 M3 (purchase, not lease)
ED delivery 6/27
Drop Off 7/4
Arrived Brunswick, GA 7/29
Scheduled for Austin 8/1
First payment due 8/13 to BMWFS

So, ED car, stuck at a VPC, still technically within the "6-8 week window" for delivery. Anyone gotten any satisfaction whatsoever? I really don't want to be paying for a car with absolutely zero ETA on arrival. Honestly, I'd really just like a car to drive in the interim so I can sell my M5 without putting more miles on it.

The news from Sydney Australia is no different. My Dealer has been kept in the dark and maybe to do with lower volumes here, he was not aware of issues regarding the recall until I raised it with him. He has finally confirmed that my m2 will be taken by a third party and the job will be done prior to the delivery to my dealer. Clueless on when the actual Diff will arrive. Totally kept in the dark.

Are you doing PCD? The short answer I got was 6-8 weeks is standard delivery and up to 10 weeks for PCD. Until you meet or exceed that window of time then BMW will tell you that the delivery is within the time frame that you signed papers acknowledging you understood the delivery window. I'm not 100% sure but I think the clock starts the day you drop the car off. Different drop off locations can add time, like dropping it off in Italy vs Paris or Munich.

BTW, you dropped yours off the same day I did. Looks like we were on the same boat as well.

I heard from a reliable source today that there are 200 a week being delivered now to repair the faulty diffs.
