Amen!! And they put them on the news!! I guess this would be a “get off my lawn” moment, because I’m sick of watching them. You don’t graduate from 6th grade and you don’t graduate from 8th grade.

Something I learned with age and would apply to myself as well, people should not be allowed to speak in public until the age of 30. I cringe when I think of some of the things I said in public in my younger years.

I worked on a bunch of projects today with my brother. Fairly warm day, but very humid. Humidity really beats me up. After dinner Wifey wanted to walk this 1.5 mile trail around the local soccer fields. First time ever I had to ask her to slow down. Usually it's the other way around.

Llarry, ever get a steroid shot for your bursitis? That's supposed to help.

Sure did, Esteban -- twice, I think. It does help for a month or two.

Guys I got a new hip back in November. It feels great, and the hardest part of the recovery was staying out of the hot tub for 6 weeks while the incision healed. If your ortho doc says it will help you, do not delay. It's a piece of cake!

I vaguely remember this 1950s article being posted before, but my memory is not what it used to be, making me qualified to post on this thread.

You may be old if you remember the days when an article like this would have been normal.

What was considered normal certainly changes over time.

My wife loves to inundate me with problems the second she hears the door open. I'll never forget when I had a very long commute and the day before Thanksgiving it took me over 3 hours to get home. I walked in the door , she started to open her mouth with a problem and I said "DON'T TALK TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!" I was so frustrated! She did let me spool-down before I had to solve some problem.

I've gotten several steroid shots in my foot for sinus tarsi syndrome. Would last several months to a year for me. I hear you can get steroid shots in your back too. Going to ask my orthopedic doc about that when I see him later this month.

Now that I've been retired for a few years, I can begin to understand how the housewives of the 50s and 60s felt when the husband came home. There are days when I don't leave the house or talk to anyone except for Wifey at lunchtime. When she comes home and I have dinner ready, I get to hear all about her day and problems at work, etc. I rarely have much to say as one day for me is often very much like any other. It's an odd feeling.

I guess that makes you a house-husband. I was that for a few years since I retired before my wife too. Her last couple years of working were from home. It does take some getting used to when you're both retired and at home, as I'm sure you'll find out eventually. We've been together 49 years this July and we get along well, as an old married couple should.

We were blessed to be able for my wife to be a stay at home mom. When I was forced into retirement, I got to be home all the time. It didn't take me long to understand why she wanted to get out of the house on the weekends; I was tired and just wanted to stay home and rest. Now, I want to get out of the house!

CONGRATS!! We've been married over 47 years! Since my retirement and my wife was a stay at home mom, she thought that if she was busy, I needed to be busy also. I had to let her know that since I had already "paid my dues" I didn't have to be busy all the time and I earned lounging around . I do help a bit around the house, we each have our "duties;" I have actually picked up a few duties.

Funny, I had all these things I was going to do when I retired, clean out my desk, clean out the garage, wax the cars a couple times a week... I've done none of that! I did a project that would normally take a weekend; it took me FOUR MONTHS!! I still need to clean out the garage... ELEVEN YEARS later

While this photo could go in the "cool pics - vehicles" section, I think this older crowd can better appreciate it.

Thanks for the preview. In case I haven't mentioned it, I accepted an early retirement buyout from my job of the last 38 years last week. My first day of "retirement" is July 1st, and I fear that I'm going to die from boredom before Labor Day.....
