While I can admit that I might have suffered from a bit of downgrade syndrome ( similar to if someone went from porches to BMW), over the past month of taking this bike out of storage after using it is a simple replacement from my mechanically downed Ducati last year.... I have to say that this thing is an engineering marvel!

Good looking and a blast to ride... My sense of "settling" had been diminished since I broke her out back in late March.

Sorry.. must be the rum/whiskey/cognac/gin I've been sipping all weekend in remembrance of the guys I've served along side with, who couldn't make it back to their moms after enemy actions.

Here's a few pics after bonding with my weekend toy since my mom is over 1k miles away doing this mother's day weekend.

Happy mother's day to all of you. Enjoy the moments you have together, since you never know when will be the last one.

I confess that I hate my dealer.

I've been irked by these idiots for a while, even during the buying process, but it's at a point where they're just being ridiculous.

I just had my 4th oil change a few days ago. I got the car back without the intervals reset, had to ask them to reset it (even though their invoice says they did this). That really didn't sit well with me so I started snooping on TIS and saw that on every 4th oil change the spark plugs shall be replaced too. This has not been done.

I also went and measured my rotors to see if they need replacement or not. They do. Which makes sense, bc after my 3rd oil change they left a note saying "rotors at 19.4mm, spec 18.4mm", meaning i had 1mm left for replacement. I specifically asked them to check it out for me, and they replaced the front brake pads (which is odd. The rears gave an error in iDrive but allegedly my front pads were shot, but nothing showed up on iDrive), and explicitly said the rotors are well within spec.

I measured my iPhone (since i can find the dimension) to check my caliper is calibrated, and it is.

Basically so far my ownership of this car has included:

1- Getting yelled at by a salesman for wanting to work with another salesman in the buying process
2- I was made fun of "haha you must be an engineer they're so particular all the time" when I went in to get my light carpet fixed so that it works as it fucking should
3- Half ass an oil change so much they don't even reset the vehicle check/service due messages. I'm doubting they even changed the filters, will go down in the morning and check for any dates on the filters
3- They have elected to not do their job that is scheduled (rotors and spark plugs. Both of which are included in my maintenance plans)
4- They do not wash my car, outside or inside. I don't know why they refuse to do this when they have a wash bay (and advertise I could get free washes whenever I'm at the dealer). I also don't know why my friend who has a Honda gets his car washed+vacuumed after each stop and I'm not even being asked if I want it or not. Fully recognize this is me being an entitled Karen but it feels weird to know Honda has better customer service than BMW

I am very particular about this sort of stuff, literally because of shit like this. Maybe I'm too naive about it, but I feel like I shouldn't have to triple check their work that is spelled out by BMW.

Fuck me sideways if I get anywhere near these idiots in the future.

He was trying to shake me down for money and it was just cheaper to get rid of him. LOL

The deputy was cool though

I confess that this position of the number plate makes me envy about size and place.

It's technically "illegal" and I wouldn't pass a proper state inspection the way I have the plate placed and tail signal lights aren't spaced far enough apart according to DOT, but police aren't as strict in enforcement for these things in the US, as they might be in Europe.
The couple times an officer at some sort of checkpoint may have addressed this on any of my bikes over the years... I confess that flashing my military ID has served as a "get out of jail" free card, lol.

I see. Some other guys, which are also partly too smart for their own good (*chuckle*) here in Germany had bought a spring-loaded number plate holder, when police appears, just release the cable and its popping down.
Too sad when you are awaring the cops are already behind you and you're gonna release the trigger lately before got pulled over

I have 30k miles on the car

I'm going to ask around today and see what dealers suck less. The one that's 30-35mins out from my place has apparently the best reviews all around it looks like.

Yea, I would say it's definitely worth the extra distance to find a solid, reliable dealer. I travel an extra 45 minutes to go to a better one and I think it's worth it. Good luck.
Oh yeah! I love driving it, fall more in love with it every time i drive the car.

It had 17k miles when I bought it in August 2021; I absolutely drive it way too much!

We woke up to a note instead of our daughter. She hopped on a plane and left us with so many questions. She's 19 so she's free to do whatever she wants but it hurts so bad that she thought we didn't want her around. She's everything to me and I was prepared to leave my job to help her build a business. She thought she was being a burden but she was really being my savior. Now I sit here blaming myself for this. It hurts so bad. We know she is ok and that helps but I can't do anything but think about what I did to drive her away.

I'm at work wishing I was home but when I am at home I just see things that make me think of her and cry. I'm completely lost. I know this is a dumbass place to put this but I had to get it off my chest. People at work are understanding but I don't know how long I will be able to keep my shit together. I just want to leave and start over.

Home invasion.

Even though I know (I used to be claim rep in the theft team for State Farm), that the vast majority of home invasions are family (or ex) and/or gang/drug related.

My ex-wife showing up. It's been 7+ years since I moved out (I bought a house in another city 100 miles away when I took this job, but everyone knows that stuff is public record and you can find it), but she was still trying to reach out to me as recently as last year (got a new phone and had forgotten to block the number). I've had to block her phone/email/LinkedIn/Facebook/etc, because she wouldn't leave me alone.

And SHE is the one who asked for the divorce!

Tell her how you feel. Clearly there has been a fairly long period of miscommunication between the two of you, so clear the air and tell her exactly what you're feeling at the moment. Raw, unfiltered, no macho, be honest.

She needs to know.

Had a client whose son committed suicide a few months ago. Imagine how he and his wife are feeling. No taking that back. But you have a chance at restoring the relationship.

We have talked and while it was a big misunderstanding she's going to stay there for a bit. I'm proud of her for spreading her wings, just hated the circumstances but we have been talking and I hope things are smoothing out. Hopefully we can visit her for Christmas or have her come down. Either way, I think it will work out, just a huge shock and a very rough couple of days!

Pilots have the ability to retire from the age of 55 and must resign when reaching 60y. Im now in between those digits and made my decision not let go until final age.

It doesn't make me happy that my 2022 with 7,000 miles on it is at the dealer because I'm having issues with it starting. I hope it's just the battery and not some nonsense. We shall see.

There's always work to be done. Sometimes it's good to take a little time for yourself.

I floated around the pool Saturday and Sunday, watched some Ozarks and went to lunch at the Bar-B-Que spot listening to local band
