Those wheels are forged magnesium I believe and have wheel covers.

The tow isn't as strong on these cars as the older ones because of the aero philosophy.... There is no way the slip stream effect is worth 5 tenths.


Look at Q2 times:

Lewis: 1'31.048
George: 1'31.252

K MAG: 1'31.461


So no, the HAAS will not be threatening the merc. But the ferrari's absolutely will be threatening the redbull, and absolutely have the pace to finish 1-2. So if anyone is going to be hunted down the data suggests it is max.


George would have been right behind Lewis in Q3 if he didn't push so hard on the outlap like merc wanted and cook his tires.









BTW the wheel covers are made by redbull technology for all teams, not the wheels.

Mercedes managed to reduce the porpoising effect. But it's still present. And that's bad news for both HAM and RUS (uncomfortably shaken and stirred in the straights during the 300+ km race), as well as any car trailing right behind them in the straights on this sandy circuit (getting all the scattered fragments and burnt smell over them, like an octopus shooting ink).

I read someone's comment who was in the stands during F1 Bahrain free practice: whenever HAM or RUS passed on the straights 'doing the hop', they left an intense burnt smell.

It's also great to see midfield teams nipping at the heals of the big three.

If the intended design philosophy of permitting easier following and more passing works as well as quail just did,
we could be in for an epic season.

I think you forget the years Ferrari had the fastest car but couldn't beat Merc. Then last year who had more poles but needed to be gifted the championship?
