Once you play it loud you can definitely hear the quality difference. Beatport uses 320kbs compression while itunes uses like 186kbs or something

Interesting...thanks for this. Probably why Beatport is so damn expensive. I did in fact notice somewhat poor quality when blasting trance in the BMW.

no problem.. if you drop it in a DJ program you can see how the iTunes wavelengths are kinda smeared and beatport's are crisp.

I agree but sometimes when im working out i listen to single tracks. You get to learn the track better so when youre mixing you can cut in and stuff at the right spots.

Can any of you guys help me find this track? It will mean a lot. I cant find the extended mix anywhere. Its on vinyl mostly which is pretty useless to me lol. Blondie - Nothing Is Real But The Girl (Danny Tenaglia Club Mix) |

Trying to figure out how the whole song "structure" thing works... so heres' my latest 'set' that I put together.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2VTIINWI I especially like the last song... the tune is so classic that I start singing the lyrics in my head... but no lyrics are spoken at all... it's like tripping on some crazy ass drugs

be more careful about your volumes. some of your tracks are really quiet and others are really loud. so watch your levels carefully some of your longer mixes were drifting as far as beatmatching but you corrected pretty well if there is alot of stuff going on towards an end of a track, try mixing in the next track as its farther along instead of abruptly going from one track that has built up alot of energy to the beginning beats of the next track. that way you keep the momentum going and you dont loose momentum by mixing a track in too early in that track when its just intro beats. esp with effects, use them sparingly between tracks to force yourself to mix them more seamlessly as they are. this way you can be more purposeful effective with your effects usage as far as structure goes, remember that you are mixing in 4/4 so everything will happen in factors of 4. so there will be things that happen every 4 beats, things that happen every 16, 32, and 64. dont worry about counting though. think about your set as a library, each track as a book in that library, each book made of chapters that are made of sentences. each book will have a beginning, middle, and end. so be patient when you are going to mix in but dont wait too long. dont phase the other one out too abruptly unless they are very similar and you are doing it for a reason. there are always good markers that signfy the leadin for different sections in a song, like a long build up snare, or a series of beats, some key lyric or something like that. these are the points that you want to push off the next track. and points that you want to begin fading out a track. after a while, you should be able to feel it coming when you are cueing up a track, make sure its as well beatmatched as possible so you dont have to fiddle too much with the track thats coming in or going out... that is until you get very comfortable with riding the pitch after all this, start organizing your library... one book after another. i wasnt too clear on the direction of your set good tracks, you did a good job. thanks for posting and we hope to hear more from you want watch listen for your progression |
