Watching the practice got me wondering, is any other part outside of the wheels completely the same on every car? Is the aero flap on the inside of the front wheels standard or can the teams tweak them?

(so before anyone has seen the qualifying, so predicting before we've really seen what the cars can do )

My prediction:

1. VER
2. HAM
3. SAI

Wow you're really putting alot of confidence into mercedes, even over the rock solid Ferrari.

Me personally I'm not sure how things are playing out, I'll see when quali results are out.

I think mercedes has perfected the art of sandbagging over the years.
I don't know how they sandbag the porpoising yet, but I'm sure it'll be solved by tomorrow afternoon

I'd love to see SAI 2nd, as he is probably my favorite driver not considering VER.
SAI beat NOR in the McLaren when he drove the McLaren, and he beat NOR in the McLaren when he drove the Ferrari last year (1st year in the ferrari), so I think he's a very gifted driver that can adapt really well. He can really grow in a season. I think that is his edge over LEC.

But for sure Ferrari is a team with 2 very talented drivers, so if Ferrari is strong and reliable this year, a WCC is also a possibility, if the 2 drivers don't start to act as diva's on the track (like so often happens with 2 top drivers)

But it's hard to accept that MERC won't come on strong early in the season like they always have in the past years so my guess it's still sandbagging.
What if everyone's sandbagging, except Ferrari.....

The fun is to do the prediction before qualfying. At qualifying all bluffs are called and we roughly know where they stand.

The only way I think merc could sand bag porposing is by dumping the ride height to purposefully induce it. But I doubt they are sand bagging, seeing they're still testing new floors.

I think HAM and RUS are bouncing like crazy on purpose in their seats
I think they'll have things miraculously solved by tomorrow because the team has worked so hard etc etc. The usual drill.
Of course I hope I'm wrong, more teams fighting for the title makes for a better season, but my prediction is that it'll be RB vs. Merc again and the rest fighting for 3rd place.
(and if not now, it'll be the next race onwards, but HAM now knows that leaving points in the beginning of the season can cost dearly in the end, so close are they matched)

But you dare no predictions at the moment?

I don't think merc will be in the battle until a few races in.

I can't predict these things lol, I am very bad at guessing - if you were to bet on the opposite of what I bet on in say an mma or boxing fight you would be guaranteed to win. That's how bad I am at guessing, so I don't do it lol.

Everyone is bad at guessing. I've been wrong lots of times.
But that doesnt stop me.
The more wrong you are, the more you can learn

But when you don't guess, you're certainly wrong (no answer is always 0 points )

Merc already tried a new floor. No parts are coming for the race. They will be bouncing for 57 laps. It will be interesting how the car holds up.

Merc is clearly suffering the most from porpoising. McLaren onboards don't look good either, but much less than Merc. Other teams look to have a handle on it.

Agree. I don't see how anyone could watch FP1/FP2 and come to the conclusion they are inducing porpoising on purpose to sandbang. Their car looks terrible compared to Ferrari and RB. Ham radio comments have a different tone to them. He was clearly not happy how the car is driving.

They're going to have to sacrifice down force and Jack the car up for the race, that's should stop the porpoising but they'll lose alot of performance.

I think the other teams are just compromising and willing to lose a bit of downforce to stop the porpoising, Ferrari have cut outs on the rear floor to bleed air out of the under floor and that reduces the peak downforce but stops the porpoising. Redbull have the cuts too, and they're running rake. This means the rear is a bit higher so when the load builds the car squats to a neutral position.

Yeah Merc is in trouble, and obviously ham isn't gonna be happy the car is driving like crap.

That RBR even had lighter newer suspension parts in waiting goes to show they took the right juncture to sort a very small problem they had with jumping, what on earth have Merc been doing they don't seem to have any back up plans unless they do a Houdini now. I see Leclercs being a buzzing bee to Max and hope Checo can temper Sainz.

The Merc still looks like a handful, I'm surprised they are that quick. They are all sandbagging at the moment.

So pretty much everyone thinks that mcLaren are still a long way down

I also have no real 'feeling' where they stand as of now.
