Ours had best be on one of those two bloody ships that are leaving this week or else we are screwed for any chance of a 2024 delivery. We are likely screwed anyway because they don’t arrive until December 20th and 21st and I have zero faith in them to be able to get it to a dealer in 10 days over Christmas.

Update on the email to BMW Genius: Shock and Surprise, but they did not respond yet (and very well might never do so).

Even if they are on a ship now and make it to the port and dealership, there is no way I can pick it up as I will be out of town until the first!! So, the MY25 I expected to get in 24 will officially be 100% a 25’r

Yeah, good grief. So much for ordering early. I’ve learned my lesson. I will never order one again prior to when the model year is in production. Ordering MY25 in June of 2024 was utterly useless.

I was planning to have the car for 15 months before the annual depreciation on Jan. 1, 2026. Now I will hopefully get 12 months of use. 🤨

lol 😂 I’ve long ago decided that someone’s length of responses in IDK situations are directly proportional to their level of discomfort at answering logical inquiries when they know the information is damningly embarrassing.

I turned around and emailed my Client advisor the same questions. He has much more skin in the game so let’s see if he can expand on the questions a bit more.

What’s so funny to me, is her statement that vehicles are sent in batches. Now, I’m not a CEO of a German automaker, but wouldn’t you have a discussion with the shipping company that you’d like the older “batches” to go out before the newer batches when all things were equal?

Yeah, it’s so interesting. When I told my intended detailer/PPF guy that we’d need to push out my project to January, and about my timing experiences (he owns an X3 M), he was stunned.

He’s like, “I don’t know what to say, this is not how this is supposed to happen. I’ve followed countless clients from order to delivery and this is not normal, by any means.”

Wow that sucks. Sorry about your saga. Maybe you can get into a calm place and have a talk with the sales manager for your order (go to the dealership if you have the time). See if they can contact oversees and ask to prioritize transport your vehicle because you have had above average delays (have the detailed history ready for them). Express frustration and disappointment, but do it in a business-like way and don’t direct any anger at the dealer (who’s not at fault). This is a business transaction that is stalled, and both of you are losing out (you the car, them the money you will put up at delivery).

A connected manager might be able to help. Although if BMWs aren’t really a thing out where you live, the sale force may not really be well connected or even know how to help.

Thank you. I’ve opened a dialogue with the dealership. Definitely not their fault at all, so I have no malice towards them. I’ll report back what they say. I’m not overly hopeful they’ll know what to do, because when I mentioned to my CA about it being in quality check for 8 weeks, he just was like, well, sometimes it happens.

They had no idea how to go through BMW individual to get the 4NB option added to the vehicle, and weren’t going to do anything about inquiring. I took matters into my own hands regarding that and had to connect them with BMW NA to get the appropriate paperwork handled, and do my own legwork.

Dealership update:

My dealer CA called me. Such a nice guy, and he acknowledges the long wait time in quality check. Unfortunately, the escalation process or ability for them to get any information is limited.

He was kind of funny, because he said, “Now Todd, don’t take this the wrong way, but BMW forum members are a special group of people. You guys are the power users of all things BMW, and are very much in tune with all of the details that the vast majority of buyers, simple do not know.”

Basically, while knowledge is power, sometimes too much understanding makes you intensely focused on the process. He’s been there, and drives an M340i, so get does get it. His biggest take away, was thank God it’s built and sitting ready for transport.

He joked, “Don’t say anything bad about me in the forum!” And I laughed. Can’t really say anything negative about them in all honesty because they want to sell it as badly as I want to drive it.

I do think BMW as an organization really dropped the ball on this though and I’m disappointed that they do not provide their employees or dealers any tools to investigate when problems occur. That’s very frustrating to say the least. And I don’t feel I’m being dramatic, as I’m not complaining about a car that sat in QC for a week or took two extra days in assembly.

It has been 169 days since I ordered it, 85 days since it started production, and it took 58 days to complete it. It’s now been 27 days since it was completed.

All well and good but unless he's accusing us of making stuff up (and I don't get the sense he is) the fact that we are, shall we say, unusually focused and detail-oriented, doesn't change the fact that on top of the QC delays and whatnot that you got caught up in due to having the misfortune to order before the recall and stop sale, they've now put cars that were built long after yours on boats ahead of yours. That deserves an explanation, IMO, or at least some other consideration.

Well, I’m not confident that it made it on to either vessel today, as there was no status change. That brings the total to 6 ships that have left for Baltimore since my G60 arrived at the port. This effectively snuffs out a 2024 delivery.

I did notice that W&W has added 3 additional ships to their departure schedule on December 19th (there was 1 as of yesterday) with arrivals in Baltimore on January 8th. I speculate that this has something to do with the impending resumption of the Port strike and longshoreman saga, who are slated to go on strike again on January 15th.

If it doesn’t make it on one of those 4 vessels, the last chance is December 25th, with an arrival on January 11th. After that, all bets are off due to the strike.

Guys, I have one question. Does the G60 have the armrests heated as the G05 has them? Or does it follow the G30, and it does not?
