Another case of a new guy trying to hang with an OG.

2014 Mustang
My son has an automotive journalist of some renown as a friend who has seen next gen Mustang and is not impressed...says its lost its macho retro look to gain greater audience (really ?) and looks too refined and modern for his tastes. We will see.

Like the new Vette, it looks more euro/exotic. Most the haters are old Vette owners driving POS C5's. |

Looks good to me. The retro style has run its course. If Mustang can't evolve to fit in the modern world then it will be relegated to extinction. You can only live off of past success for so long...

End of the day sales tell the tale. The rest is all bullshit and posturing. Personally as an "old guy" I'd welcome a new look and have no real love for mustangs anyway, but I'm not sure THIS look is right. With the C7, I like the general idea, but I think the rear does look imbalanced (and not because of the Camaro tail lights) |

To all the retro haters I have one question..."Would you really walk away from a 911 Porsche if offered one ?" The 911 design is 50 years old. I think a Mustang should follow a similar course...constant upgrades off a similar design theme rather than try to be something different every few years. Just one man's opinion but I don't think I'm alone.

No matter what the design, the failure for alot of us will always be the fact that the $35k GT and it's wonderful drivetrain share everything else with a car designed to be sold profitably at $22k.
Short version = Goes like hell but feels like a rental.... Too bad they couldn't make the GT a completely different model and spend more/charge more for it. If it was $40k instead of $35k but the interior and everything you interact with was spectacular, I would buy one in a heartbeat. |

I will probably never buy a Mustang (because living in a military town = 2043909584 mustangs), but I'm kind of happy they're starting to move away from the Retro look.
I've got my fingers crossed for the new Dodge Baracuda though. Supercharged 6.2L, ~700Lbs lighter than the challenger in a smaller frame/shorter wheelbase, hopefully it will be a good thing. |

Current Mustangs have horrible interior style, quality, and fit/finish....Hopefully this will be addressed.
5.0 v8 is still a monster.
