The Enzo that Griffin crashed was NOT on loan. It belonged to the executive producer of the movie, Daniel Sadek.

I would think he would have been smart enough to properly insure the car for what it's use was going to be. Racing car = racing insurance. If he didn't, then I have only sympathy for the car, not the owner.

No one has yet stated the obvious:
Ferrari and much more importantly Eddie Griffin and Daniel Sadek and their upcoming movie just garnered WAY more in free publicity than what it will cost Ferrari to fix that car. 30 seconds of Superbowl Ad time? $2.5 million. 30 second spots (repeated several times per day) on most every network news program in the free world plus internet buzz? Priceless. |

That terrible sound of it hitting the wall...
What a jackass, but then again if it was my Enzo NO ONE would be driving it. You'd think they'd make him take a proper driving school course or something before getting into anything remotely close to a racecar, let alone an Enzo!

I'm still not understanding the combination of:
- inexperienced driver - supercar - no copilot ...but most importantly: - concrete barrier 20 ft off the outside edge of a turn, after a straight long enough to pick up speed???

I agree. Who gives the keys to a 650hp monster to someone and says "here, go race it close to the barrier. BTW... its a lil faster than your SL500." |

Exactly! I had auto-x'd for over 10 yrs and there is NO way concrete barriers would be that close to the edge of the track. I dont even see a reason why the barriers were there in the first place. The designers of the event should be held responsible.

There had to have been a long enough straight to pick up that kind of speed. He obviously locked the brakes up and just understeered right into the barrier. Again, there was no need for it to be so close. These werent professional race car drivers and it was stupid putting them in these cars. Its like giving a 335 to a 17yr old...
