I grew up in the area, went downtown for sporting events, to go to the Coney on Woodward, to hang out with friends who went to CCS, or various other shit. It's sad to think about how nice of a city it was at one time (before my time). All you see now is a soulless shit hole. What's worst is walking through Brush Park and thinking about how incredibly cool that neighborhood once was, or maybe still could be some day. Now the entire city is pretty much one big ass ghetto. Even the officials are crooked as shit. I personally never almost got killed in Detroit, but that's because I did my best to not put myself in a compromising situation.
If you ever get a chance to watch some of the videos on YouTube or drive by the old train station or other magnificent old abandoned and/or burned out buildings, it's easy to see that the place wasn't always such a cesspool. It makes me really angry to see how people could fuck that up so badly. |

^amen. My coworker and I were talking about the same thing here in Oakland and about how beautiful it used to be and then how quickly it went to shit.

Richmond is actually 10x better than it was in the 90's as are most cities in the US. there are certainly exceptions i guess...can't imagine Detroit is better than it used to be for crime.

It got better in the first half of last decade (violent crimes dropped like 25% or some shit), and then kinda stayed stagnant since then. In the late 90s it was fucking horrible, but it's better now ("better" being used in an entirely relative sense here).

And that's why I carry. Best just to avoid those types of situations, if possible.

apparently a massive search online, found all of the attackers FB profile and everything else you can locate online. They will get punished, just not quite as hard as I would like, but atleast the attackee will get some justification.
