my dad died in 04' which is how i'm able to pay for this car. Please be less of a dick. And when I say "slowing down isn't an option" I meant it in the sense that I knew all of you were going to say that, I've already tried this and while most of the time i do the limit sometimes (and I know this is everyone) I am in a hurry and have to speed, like a lot of days when I'm driving to class or work and a running late. And you don't understand how ridiculously low the speed limits are, I just need to get use to them being more strict and be more aware of my speed.

Gainesville, I just moved here a month ago and didn't realize how bad the cops were with speed traps. Jacksonville, you hardly see any duval cops radaring people, now state troopers on the other hand....

Doesn't Gainesville have a large prison? Perhaps you'll see the inside of it soon.

That aside, local jurisdictions with large prisons generally have lots of cops. Lots of cops mean lots of enforcement. Lots of enforcement means lots of tickets for you.

I'm afraid that a V1 isn't going to help you.

As a 19 year old, even I have to say to you grow up. Holy shit. Is this how our generation is looked upon by the older generation?

V1 and get an iPhone with Trapster on it... set it up to text you when a trap is near by, and go to your facebook so your friends can see it. also when you see a trap, update it... gotta love it. I'm 23 with my fair share of tickets (4 years ago) and i understand the need for speed, but these will help you avoid them... gar-un-teed!

look into the v1 or 9500i/ix.. i have both and i prefer the 9500. btw, people mistake radar detectors as cop detector. radar detector do not detect cops. professional police can get around the radar detectors by using laser gun. basically if you are up against a police with a laser gun, the radar detector is just telling you that your fucked..

I got more tickets when I had a radar detector than when I didn't.

That considered, I definitely think you should buy one.

Would "be smart about how you speed" work in this thread? Nevermind.

Where's that thread that had the pics of the South African wreck?

You know, the ones with the bodies all over, not necessarily with all the limbs still attached?

I dunno if you are speaking the truth or not, but the point is to be more responsible. You are legally an adult. Act like one. Know what you're getting yourself in to. Think about the insurance premium. Thats great if you have boatloads of money but seriously, god damn, you are endangering people's lives. Hopefully, you'll have a better grasp on your surroundings and what traffic environment you are in.

Slightly off topic, there is this town in Arkansas where the frequency of traffic tickets is so high that a gun fight erupted in the courthouse while disputing the tickets.

Maybe his town is like this place.

Cannot agree more, and I'm even younger than the OP. It's unfortunate, people like him make it seem like all young drivers have that same mentality and viewpoint about driving.

Damn son, you're <18 and have 33K posts?!

I have learned to be smart about where and when I speed, just use your head. I got two tickets in a Buick (for Christ's sake) when I was 18-19, and upon getting this car knew that adjustments had to be made.

i dont think we need to be his mommy and lecture him about speeding.. like someone mentioned, it is not the people who speeds that get into car accidents, it is those idiots that swerve through traffic, putting make up on while driving, yelling at their kids, etc..

My friends dad has been speeding his whole life and never got into a accident. He drives a mini van also and drives 90 MPH on a 65 zone.
