Oh wow. I placed my order for a 2025 i5 M60 around mid February and it’s still showing as “order received” without an actual production date set. Wonder if I am gonna end up getting a 2025 still or a 2026.
Look at either the purchase order or build sheet. The purchase order has a model year block on it. The build sheet will have a code next to the order number. Mine was 255D. The first 2 numbers are Model Year, the third number was series, and the letter is model within the series. So that translated to 2025, 5 series, and D means 540iX

Thanks for that! I’ll have to see a purchase order or build sheet. So far all I have is my production number and the perennial “order received” and waiting status when I look on the online build tracker. No production date assigned/scheduled yet. Dealer just confirmed that it will be a 2026 and that it should be in production sometime this month 🤷

I’m pretty sure you can use the web browser “developer mode” on Firefox or Chrome to see your production week when you look at the car’s page in your garage on mygarage.bmw.com The production day won’t be assigned until almost the beginning of production, but you can see what week it will be.

Very envious that you US folks get these tracking features right in the app. Over here, it seems the best we can do is ask our dealer for any updates on the delivery, it's completely manual.

I did get them to confirm that the i5 that I had ordered before the announcement will be the improved version. Sadly this also meant a small delay.

He did say that even the improved version was still technically MY25 though. But I see posters in this thread referring to them as MY26. Is there an official reference on this?

Once you have a VIN, you can see the specific production date. Google "BMW Chrome trick" and follow the instructions. Worked perfectly for me.

To what improvements are you referring?

The ones mentioned in the press release in the opening post of this thread. The improved range was the one I was most concerned with getting. However one might feel about the other changes, that one is objectively a positive, surely.

Got it, thanks! I was getting my threads mixed up. Good luck with your new order and do let us know how you like it when you eventually get it!

My i5 is reaching in a couple weeks so I missed the new range improvements. Sad.
