What do you mean by roll? Credit into a new lease? But why only half? What happens to the other half? They reimburse it?

They keep the other half, and your half is rolled as a credit into your new lease, but thats only if you have been leaseing . If you are not getting another bmw you just lose it, which makes sense but it sucks that they only do a hlaf of positive equity, and if you had owned it you would get full positive equity

It's not half now, it's all given as credit into a new account.
That's my experience from this year.

That’s why you put as little as possible down instead of what BMWFS wants

Yeah, when the owner is supposed to be watching the road in case auto-pilot doesn’t actually function properly, and just happens to be watching a movie instead…

Please quote your source for the high rate of Tesla fires. Everything I’ve read is that the rate of Teslas catching fire far less than a comparable ICE vehicle..and I’ve never seen a study comparing the rate of fires between BMW and Tesla EVs. Perhaps I missed that study.

This is very interesting. Especially since we're going after the other party for everything we've lost (2025 models have a less generous public charging plan)

Replacing with the exact same vehicle comes in with an MSRP of $102,785. But, there are no matches anywhere in the country and build order placed today means delivery won't happen until March of 2025. Wonder how badly we're going to get hosed by this accident (insert bitch-slap emoji)

I was in an accident last December. Car was totalled and BMW lease account was closed in March. My new car from factory was delivered in June. To make things worse, the guilty party was uninsured.

BMW FS gave one year after the accident to open a new lease account, in order not to lose the credit from closed lease account.

Glad you're safe, cars can be replaced.

These days if it's not a minor fender bender most insurance companies just total the car out.

99% sure it's totalled. Only took 2+ months to find, and had to ship it in from Texas! GrrrrrAttachment 3614270

As others have said: glad you and yours are ok.

Car is most definitely totaled. And if it’s not for some strange reason, you better argue hard to make sure it is. After that crash, you don’t want it back. No way, no how it will be fixed right.

It’s replaceable. Nothing inside it was. God is good. Glad you’re family is ok.

Hopefully you can get a nice little settlement check out of that and maybe try out a G90 M5 huh? 🫡😉

Each time I closed the doors of my cousin's Tesla, it sounded like something was broken. I don't know how relevant those safety ratings are.

Whoa, glad you and your family are OK. Crazy that she hit someone else first and then disappeared for half an hour. Definitely sounds like mental deterioration.

My old F32 was struck in a similar spot, teenager with a learner's permit in an F-150 blew a light. Spun me around and totaled the car, but I barely had a bruise. You'll get a new one, don't worry.

If you do manage to recover the car's footage, I'd be really interested what it managed to capture as well. I'm in an i5 now and I've held off on a dashcam figuring the car will record, but I didn't think about an accident bricking it entirely.
