That's great to know! I am a complete noob when it comes to BimmerUtility and the cable/hardware needed (I presume BimmerUtility is software I need to download). Could someone please post links to what hardware and software I need? I'll try to get it before my car gets the OTA update. Some basic instructions would be helpful too. I'm willing to read up on it if I need to, but need a little direction to get started.

Bodom - You just put the headlights on auto. If it worked, you will find that the high beams stay on much more and you'll see the light pattern changing to avoid traffic. It only works above 30mph in my experience.

Skyking - You need BimmerUtility, their license and adapter. Then simply do a VO edit and unselect 5AP. Save and see the change after the next OTA update is applied.

Bodom - Make sure you have Automatic High Beams on as well... click the light options button next the Auto button where the light controls are, and make sure Automatic High Beams are turned on - I think they're off by default.

This is the adapter. It plugs into the OBD port. You also need to buy a license for the software. They send you a link. There is a Windows version to download to a laptop which was my option as I want a larger screen. There is also iOS version. The adapter has an address and password etched on it for connecting.

I have the same one….while you’re at it, you can use this for eFlow and get all the battery data you can stand ;-)

It’s to the left hand side of the driver, under the dash near the hood release.

Does the BimmerUtility software support the wired ENET ethernet adapter on Windows? I have that around from my ESys days. My Esys-X paid crack no longer works, and the Esys available on the web with the trimmed data isn’t very useful and overly complex to just do coding and VO changes.

Yes it is wired or you can use WiFi. It comes with a small Ethernet cable.

Speaking of VO edits, I see that 5AP was on my original order which indicates "Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance" so that makes sense. However, there is another item: 8TT "Decoding additional functions II". Does anyone know what that deactivates and what happens if we uncheck that one as well?

SkykingUSA, 8TT I believe has to do with the fact you got DAPP. Since DAPP deletes 5AS (Active Driving Assistant) and 5AT (ACC Stop & Go + Active Driving Assistant), and replaces them with 5AU (Active Driving Assistant Pro) and 5AX (Highway Assistant). The original functions need to be decoded so they don't conflict with the higher functions of DAPP.

Too bad there wasn't a code we could alter so that our US cars get the M badging like in the rest of the world. LOL Just click a checkbox and when you wake up in the morning, the M badge fairies have installed badging on your car overnight.

MikeElmendorf attack7777 Thank you for the suggestions Gents. It doesn't work for me. Likely i did something wrong in the three step BimmerUtility process (LOL) or it has something to do with this interrupted download/upload process that I experienced. Needless to say its a major disappointment for me as I had the anti-dazzle for close to 7 years in the G30 platform and love the feature.

MikeElmendorf attack7777 If I recall correctly, after removing 5AP BimmerUtility prompted me if I also wanted to say yes to "decoding additional functions" or something to that nature. Basically, it was NOT just uncheck 5AP and save there was this second second prompt. Did you also see that come up, if so what did you click ?

I just had to uncheck the 5AP box and save it. To confirm, I then disconnected the BU adapter, and later on reconnected it to see what the config was and 5AP was unchecked where it had been checked before.

Not exactly a confidence-inspiring flow, but I think that's all it took

Yeah, it was just 5AP. Same as Attack. And I reconfirmed several times that subsequently it was not showing up as enabled/present in the VO.

The change worked for me on the previous OTA update and has continued to work after this week's.

Thank you again. I did exactly the same thing.

I was actually going crazy thinking maybe there was some extra step to turn ON the functionality in G60 (once it was coded). In G30 it was a press of a button on the left hand-side stalk, but in G60 that's been now embedded in iDrive, but it also turns ON once the "Auto" button is pressed. Anyways, I was doing it the right way but no dice.

I also confirmed 5AP is unchecked by connecting and reconnecting BimmerUtility.

At this point I am going to attribute this to the wonky software upgrade process that I went through. I will keep 5AP out and hopefully next time it works.

I noticed the following in the documentation for BimmerUtility (on their web site).

7. Activation code is locked to machine that it is first used on. This cannot be changed.

Does this mean I have to pick whether I want to use it on my Android phone or laptop? Does anyone use it on more than one device? I already installed the license on my Android app, but not sure if I can also use the same license to install on my laptop.

EDIT: Also, do I need to download ESYS separately or does it come with BimmerUtility? Do I even need it? I thought all the software I needed was the BimmerUtility (with license).

A couple of small updates:

1) My car seems to be reinstating the 6Amp charging limit by default now when I park the car - I know others experienced this but it never happened to me before. Easy to fix but a bit annoying that it keeps turning back on.

2) I like how the interactive bar now is animated in some of the modes (expressive, relax). Clearly there’s a lot more that the software can do with the lighting if BMW puts their mind to it.

You don’t need, or really want to fool with, Esys. The front page of the website says you can use the software license on Windows and mobile devices, so that quote for 7) above under the Windows support question is really just saying that the license will lock to the first Windows machine you install and run it on, but you can still use mobile devices in addition.
