Interesting you ask this because while driving the G60 540i, I found the engine sound to feel more distant/isolated. The engine sound did sound nice though in a refined sound that was actually enjoyable.

It was in the Throttle House review. Personally I have to disagree because Lexus will never have the testosterone to create a 600 HP RWD-based sedan. The fact that all their new vehicles have killed the NA V6 in favor of hybrid 4-cylinders sitting on modified Camry platforms makes the brand dead to me.

It's not being compared to Lexus for its engine potency or driving dynamics (which are still very much BMW like). |

The RWD Lexus models have my respect, especially the GS, but they are nothing like those crappy gussied up Camries and Highlanders that Lexus sales are mostly made of. Saying the new 5 Series is a "perfect Lexus" might as well be saying it's a "perfect Camry". |

We can certainly take the analysis further though.

We will look back on the demise of their v6 I think. Ice and EV should always be offered. I feel the 2035 mandate will be pushed aside and the market will eventually decide. That’s being said- I drove the new Model 3 Highland today and it was pretty awesome. Rwd- very nice interior. It’s come a long long way from 2017. |

Too bad it looks so lame. I don’t align with the consensus that it’s a styling improvement, though I haven’t seen it in person yet. It definitely doesn’t look like a car that costs $50k.

It’s a RWD architecture. And boy was it quiet and road comfy/ accurately. And it’s 38,000.00. Not 50,000 for the RWD. |

I think you can get a little too minimalist. That’s what puts me off with the Model 3. No HUD, no dashboard. Now everything is on one display. I like having my nav in HUD, speed, efficiency, mileage, temperature in my dash. That leaves my infotainment free for music, Microsoft Teams meetings (through CarPlay). All of that might get a bit crowded on a single display. Also, I use one pedal driving but my husband hates it. With Tesla, they took away your choice with a software update. Instead, Musk installs fart noises and goats bleating. I don’t want to be subjected to the whimsy of a man with an emotional IQ of 8. |

That's why, for me, getting the G60 was NOT a clear cut choice like it was in prior years when I was replacing F10 with G30. Yet, I ended up with the G60 as the car was still the best choice for me (many reasons). I find it comical when people try to downplay the obvious crap plastics used in G60. Some materials are beyond embarrassing. When my car buddies asked me how I liked the new car my answer was "tech is great, ride is awesome, materials are $hit". |

Also, which EV has perfect ride quality? iX with air suspension and EQS do, but 90%+ of EVs have bad ride quality due to stiff suspension.

Don’t assume that’s the only reason. Teslas have been in my area from the beginning with a mall showroom for preorders. I don’t care for the exterior styling, don’t like the interior materials, don’t like a single center mounted display, and I don’t like the limited options for interior and exterior colors. I shouldn’t have to pay $8k for a wrap because a company wants to keep costs down. It’s like buying a car from IKEA.

Tesla had a pretty rocky start. A lot of that had to do with questionable decisions. A lot of those decisions were made or approved by Musk. |

Not sure I’d agree with ikea on the Highland. Maybe the 2023 model 3. There’s an air of sophistication that now is present on the 2024. Id encourage you to have a look. You might be right- it’s not for you. But it’s atleast worth a look in person. |

I’m not bitter at all. I can simply choose not to buy their product if I don’t like it. I don’t buy peach colored shirts either, that doesn’t mean I’m bitter because they exist.
I just point out that Tesla has charted a very unique course, and that I’m not blind to their shortcomings (as many are). Choice is good, and I’m glad it’s an American company leading the way with EVs. |

Also think about how Kia and Hyundai needed years to perfect their manufacturing. Now their cars are considered very reliable and well built. Not sure that could be said in the late 90s and early 2000s… |
