look guy... you need to not worry about us. I put household as my parents house because I don't consider a college apartment as a "home" my brother and sister don't live at home either. sorry this is such a serious subject for you. thanks for caring dude! nice car

BTW sorry homes in SB are about 4 times the value as they are in CT and the average kid can't buy a home.

I'll put my garage so you can stop crying

Anyone can spend thier parents money. It isn't something you should be proud of junior.

I don't see how you can look at someone with a car they love and call them jealous. I am glad I wasn't spoon fed as a kid personally. I can't wait for the day you post on here, like many before you, "I had a decent GPA and I did all my work, why can't I find a job that will let me own half the stuff I did when I lived with my parents?"

Better start hoping they keel off before you graduate so you can go on living the good life.

1989, nothing against any person in particular. I could care less what your situation is. I just don't like the self entitlement that people like JDev seem to think they deserve just because they are in college or do well in high school.

I know of at least one on this forum that lives with his rents cause he lets them live with him, so I am definitely not trying to call everyone out.

The people my message was for know who they are. Just hoping they hear the message and maybe grow up a bit.

wtf is that wiki shit? I'm just saying the average home value in SB is pretty expensive. of course we do have our Westside homes and our Old town homes that are fairly cheap in very ugly hoods I'd rather wait untill I can afford a nice home and wait untill after college to buy a home. but I guess you don't understand what I mean. I hate that automaticly a person with a nice car at a young age is a "bum" idk about the other youngsters on here but I personally got a huge deal on my M3 lease working at the BMW dealership I didn't have my mom or dad pay for it. and I came to realize its time for me to save my money which is why I GOT RID OF IT. you can critisize all the young guys on here all you want but I think you should spend your time doing something else.

That's funny, because not only did I get a full ride, I'm also on a program that gave me acceptance into their med school. You bet your ass i'll
come back here and tell you personally when I finish with my schooling

I am relatively young at 25. Bought my BMW as a "got a job" gift right out of college. I know what it is like to have people think it was given to you when you paid for it yourself. It sucks. I also went to a richer pulic high school so I have a special hate for self entitled kids whose parents buy them nice things.

I may not be on this board in 10+ years... so don't count on it. More power to you for wanting to be a doctor. I think all that school and then crap pay while you are "getting experience" for the first couple years is total crap. But hey, maybe that just means I am lazy too.

I think the hostility is coming from the fact that you think since you do well in school that you are entitled to owning those nice cars. You are not. You should be appreciative and thankful to your nice parents and try not to be such a dick. When you start making some real money in 10 or so years and finally buy yourself a car and have a better job than me you can go ahead and feel entitled, cause then you have more than earned it.

I wasn't really meaning to be a dick, that other guy called me a
'bum ass' and I was clearly showing him I'm no bum living off my mommy and daddys money, and that Ive been working hard for awhile now. Not sitting in my parents house, playing video games, and using the credit card they gave me to buy whatever my heart fancied
Have a good day

Honestly, who cares if someone lives at home with their parents and spends all of their money on cars? It's their own personal choice, and it does not affect your life in any way whatsoever, so why rag on these kids? Everyone eventually learns value and responsibility one way or another, there's no need to flame these guys for being young 18-20 somethings that are enrolled in school full time and spend their or their parents money on cars. It's not like they are holding their parents at gunpoint forcing them to spend the money, right? Get off your high horses all of you damn haters, it is quite immature and petty of you to instigate these stupid arguments.

Oh and in case you're wondering. I am a young 20 something enrolled full time in college, living in a luxury apartment in downtown Sacramento, and I have a 335i. My only vehicle. From time to time, my parents have to help me out financially, and I am grateful for it. Oh, and before you start ragging on me about responsibility, I just finished a 5 year stint in the Marine Corps, so save your speech for someone else.

I just have to say that 5 years in the Corps doesn't mean you're responsible. A lot of the Marines I came in contact with were some of the most irresponsible people I've ever known, and it really took a lot to fix those of them who actually wanted to become responsible. Others didn't give a shit that they were shitbags, and dragged their asses to the end of their contracts on restriction or being happy getting by with the minimum.

I thank you for your service to our country. I am not in any way implying that you aren't responsible; I have nothing to base such a judgement on. However, while your average Marine may be more responsible than your average civilian of the same age, it doesn't apply to everyone, and time served doesn't automatically make you a responsible person.

However, while your average Marine may be more responsible than your average civilian of the same age, it doesn't apply to everyone, and time served doesn't automatically make you a responsible person.
And there are even more shit-bags in civilian life. I'm a very responsible person, carried my weight, and got out as a Sgt who in his last command was responsible for 113 Marines. But you're right, I've seen many a Marine slip through the cracks and drag ass. The point I was making was to simply illustrate the fact that I know what responsibility entails; I learned it from a very young age.

You are right as well in stating that time served does not make you a responsible person, per-say, I ran into a 22 yr MSgt who missed out on a job opportunity because in her 22 years of service she never once considered going to college, and now at 42 years old is starting college for the first time ever. I would consider that irresponsible.

I assume you served, and you know as well as I do that the military, and especially the Marine Corps give you all the tools you need to learn and grow as a responsible person, but it is ultimately up to you to use the tools provided and succeed.

Regarding this thread, I just think it is absolutely uncalled for to have these so-called "mature" gentlemen call out these young kids and berate them because they are privileged in what they have. Hell, the kids merely followed along with the post and listed the cars in their households, and in return we get some "responsible" person calling them bums and jackasses. What gives? I won't lie, I'm pretty jealous that some kid my age or younger has a new M3, but I'm just as jealous of guys who have the opportunity to own Ferraris and Lamborghinis. And you know what? Good for them, there is no need for animosity toward any of them because they took advantage of an opportunity that was presented to them!

It might be a different story if these guys were the ones to instigate everything by saying "hey I'm 20 and I drive a new M3, haha suckersss!" or something along the lines of that, but you know what, they didn't. Who fucking cares if their parents bought them the car? If YOUR parents came to you and said, "Son, we're going to buy you an E90 M3" wouldn't you take up the offer? I highly doubt you would say, "You know what mom and dad, I don't want you to do that, I'm going to finish school and get a career and wait until I can afford it on my own." It is more likely than not that if their parents bought them these vehicles they PROBABLY have no issue with their finances.

Responsibility doesn't just entail being smart with your money, getting into a house by yourself and starting a career. I would say it takes a sense of responsibility to know when you're overstepping a boundary in calling out some kid you don't even know just because he or she is very privileged. So, in closing, if you're going to try and impose your values, and preach responsibility, start with the mirror in your bathroom first.

I won't mean to start an argument, but you seem to be confusing "own" and "buy." If someone gifts you with a house, you own that house. You may not have earned it, but on paper you're the legal owner.

So you're telling me that all the gifts you buy for friends, family, significant other, etc., are really YOURS and they just get to use them? Wow. You really said that. Absolutely ridiculous. Make sure you annotate it on all your Christmas and birthday cards:

"Dear Son, merry Christmas, here's a new a new football. Oh by the way, this football is not yours, it is actually mine because I purchased it, but you're allowed to use it."

The owner of the vehicle is the registered owner if you want to be all technical, but I'm sure you knew that considering your vast knowledge in the ethics of ownership and property. Have you considered that maybe the people on this forum whose cars were given to them may have had guidelines to meet before their parents bought them the vehicle. For example, the kid with the M3. Maybe his parents said, "Son, we'll buy you an E90 M3 if you work hard and get into medical school." And apparently he did all that, so is that not earning his car?

And as a former poor kid, who is now able to provide for my future children financially way better then my parents could.......my kids aint getting bmws or luxury cars for their first! They will be working small after school jobs for insurance money, earning their first used car. Then when they complete college or get a career they can buy whatever car they want with their own money.

I have no idea if I could appreciate what I have worked for and earned if I had rich parents who gave me so much stuff for free. Working my way through the different car brands until I got to bmw was some of the best stuff I ever did. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction is hard to describe. I have no idea how these rich kids will ever appreciate anything.

At the end of the day......who really cares though.
And yes, I too understand what you were TRYING to say, although I did not convey that in my post above. I've just been stepping up to bat for these kids who were attacked because they're privileged.

I would never buy my future children some luxury vehicle as a first car, even if I were as rich as Bill Gates. I would rather they save up for a down-payment and I'd help them get into a car of their choice, but not until they understood what it was to work toward a goal.

The only point here that I've been trying to get across is that it is simply not right to jump down someone's throat for being privileged, so long as they're not being snobby and walking around like their shit don't stink. But you're right, in the end of the day, who really cares?
