Glad I didn’t opt for the “20 wheels like on my M550. Ride is much more comfortable and quiet.

The adaptive regenerative braking (I think that’s what it is) works very well - it’ll automatically match speed of cars in front of you until you’re at or below their speed. Very happy with it.
The exterior color shows like it should: a winner. Excellent choice!

$3k signing cash, payment is around $1300 with $80 of that being state tax. MSRP was $95k.

I’ve totaled a lease before and was SOL with the cash I put down. GAP coverage at least covered the difference between insurance payout and lease balance. I now minimize cash down.

I agree. And there’s a pretty annoying glare when the sun hits the controls at the right angle.

Was not interested in the light-up or shadowline grill. Did the same with my M550. And a $500 up charge? Easy decision.

Pickup definitely feels faster than the M550 but I haven’t measured 0-60 in either. I’m sure someone will post real-world times soon.. interested to see the difference.

I think speed is limited to 130 or 135 in the M60. Was 155 in M550. I only took the M550 close to its limit 2-3 times and I think those days are over for me now.

That’s with the crystal/glass one, right? I opted for no executive pack and bronze replacing the silver color. Hoping for no glare, not that I will see the sun for another 6 months to find out.

Much improvement to Drive Assist Plus compared to my M550. I used it with speeds up to 85 on the highway. A few things I noticed during a couple drives yesterday:
  • Will anticipate cars going slower ahead in your lane and prompt you to look in your blind spot so it can auto-lane change. It uses the new camera near sunroof button to detect if you’re paying attention, on your phone, checking your blind spot, etc.
  • It also detects if someone is approaching behind you and if you’re in a passing lane going slower than behind traffic, it’ll prompt to change to the right lane.
  • Seems much more efficient than on the M550 since it uses regen braking to match speed most of the time. I always worried the adaptive cruise in M550 would wear down my brakes quicker than me driving - it was pretty awful about anticipating traffic and letting off the accelerator.
  • Used it on a 17 mile highway drive and only had to touch the steering wheel 2-3 times.
  • Haven’t tried using this on the streets and probably won’t much. The disclaimer says to only use it on divided highways so I’m not sure it would even allow me to activate on streets.

Couple other observations on range from the few trips I took yesterday:

Most efficient trip was 14 miles, 90% highway, 3.3 miles/KwH, AC running pretty low, 5% of battery used.

Least efficient trip was 26 miles, 75% highway, sat in a drive-thru for 5 minutes, 2.9 miles/KwH, AC running pretty low, 11% of battery used. I did hit the accelerator pretty hard on the highway to overtake a couple cars. Max speed probably 105.

I’m getting a chargepoint charger installed Wednesday - will report back on charge times. The included charger is awfully slow (as one would expect).

I got a single payment leases in NY (high sales tax paid upfront). MF .0000125 (3% APR), residual 53% on 10,000 miles/year, 3 year lease, $9000 rebate and $1500 dealer contribution of MSRP. I believe $500 of the rebate represented NY EV tax credit.

I'm new to the lease world so forgive anything here that doesn't make sense or is unclear, or if missing info. The below are numbers that my CA provided me. I'm in TX and my sticker is 99845.00.

Saving 8500.00 which includes 1k loyalty.
1% sale service fee at 900.00
DMV registration at 623.00
Documentation fees at 150.00
"Other fees" at 998.45

The range on my monthly payment is 1498 - 1528. I don't know what drives the 30.00 range.

I prefer the Bower’s and Wilkins on my M550. I still have to tune the settings on the M60 but it seems to be a lower grade setup at first glance. I miss all the light up speakers. Was a $3k upcharge on the M550 though.
So I believe the new Bowers & Wilkins system is just the old Harman Kardon that has been rebranded, nothing special. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround is the one you want, which your old M550 offered, which is drastically different from the current rebranded system.

Sounds about right. I had HK in my 2018 540 and this sounds somewhat similar. Disappointing they removed the BW Diamond option on 5 series.

Not sure about the other fee and the 1% sale service fee. BMW had a $925 "acquisition fee" for me - and I got the dealer to reduce car price by $1500.

I think my dealer contribution was about "market" for the northeast. If I shopped hard, I found dealers offering 3% off (and even saw one at 6%) but hard to know if they really had car allocations for a new build. I suspect the discount gets bigger as the months post launch go by.

You should ask what your residual and money factor are. Those are the numbers that drive your payment. The money factor is essentially your interest rate. The residual determines how much you have to pay down (like a principal payment) each month.

This was my first lease. I have bought 13 or so cars in my lifetime and always paid cash until now. The rebate was too good to pass up, and you need to lease to get it. (thank you Uncle Sam for your screwed up tax policy)

I've got a bunch of seat time in Taycan 4S, so intrigued to hear your thoughts on it. By "tight / controlled" are you talking about the ride in general?

no surprise on the speed. The Taycan 4S and below aren't super fast for EV's. You really need to go to Turbo level to feel Tesla levels of speed. I drove a Base, 4S and Turbo back to back and got in my Model 3 Performance following and felt like it was on par with the Turbo speed wise. Or at least a lot closer to the Turbo than the 4S.

As far as interior goes, I do like the layout of the Taycan but it's cramped and Porsche tech is....not great.
