I was reviewing the options list for my build. I noticed it says Ambient Lighting S04UR. So assuming it will have the interactive bar.

I'm puzzled now.

I didn't realize that the new 530i/540i have 7-speed DCT transmission? (the first item on the pic you posted above)

the BMW specs showed 8-speed automatic transmission.... perhaps the DCT was a misprint?

I think it must be. This pictures shows the 8 speed. Who knows maybe they will “accidentally” put the new M5 power train in mine 🤪

A long time ago, I ordered a PC from Compaq. For some odd reason, it arrived with a much more expensive 4gb hard drive.(yes, at the time, 4gb was a HUGE hard drive) I had to call them to make sure that they didn't charge me the extra $500 for it. The rep told me that it was probably a mistake and told me to enjoy the HUGE 4gb hard drive. The only reason I still remember this is that the PC had a loose connector on the motherboard. I took it to their service location. The tech opened it up to do the repair and he said "wow! a 4gb!!!???" Oh god, I'm old...

I believe this does not mean that you will get the interaction bar. I had the same issue with my 530i and when I was ordering the i5, I found out that Interaction Bar with Ambient Lighting means that the interaction bar will be present instead of just ambient lighting. Both of them have 4UR for the build codes. Really confusing but I got to know it when I saw a 530i in person. My 530i also had Ambient lighting listed but no interaction bar. The US models will not get it until Mar 2024.

So basically:
530i 4UR Ambient Lighting: 2 thin strips of lighting with no interaction bar
i5 4UR Ambient Lighting with Interaction Bar: Thick glass lighting strip with touch controls

You are confusing with 530i and i5.

The ordering guide you are pasting is from i5. Which has standard 4UR


ZWL is the option code for Ambient light which you have on 530i.

I know that the ordering guide is for the i5. I initially ordered a 530i but went for the i5 after since the 530i did not have the interaction bar. With the picture, I wanted to state that the ordering guide/build needs to include the words "Interaction Bar with Ambient Lighting" for the car to have the interaction bar. Just wanted to clear it out since many other people had 4UR on their 530i build but did not get the interaction bar.

Correct, that's what I posted on pg1 of this thread.

Earlier 4UR SOP for 530i was 11/23 along with C68 Vegas Red Color.

Then they changed 4UR SOP to 3/24 on Nov 1st but C68 has been available since 11/23.

Don't worry it will be available in a month or two

Where did you get this from? My SA said it had that listed for the 540i...

If you look up the options on mygarage.bmwusa the 540 and I5 M60 both just say Ambient Lighting under standard features. Is there a better place to look?

From what I’ve read/heard the 540i is supposed to come with it but the ordering guide just says 4UR ambient light. For the I5 it says 4UR interaction ambient light. Guess we will have to wait an see when the 540s are delivered.

Does anyone know when they will hit the dealers?

Hello BMW Series 5 community, I have a question: just got the diesel version of the 5, I just love it. However, the diesel and petrol versions do not come with the interaction bar (ambient lighting is just a soft one). This came as considerable disappointment considering that the car is fully loaded also with a carbon trim. Good to note that almost all the 5 series showcased in YouTube are about the i5 version, so my diesel one came below the expectations in that aspect as I only learned that only the electric version has an interaction bar when picking up my car. Do you think it is possible to retro fit the interaction bar?

The next few months will show this when the first cars are delivered. Guess this will work, but will cost at least €2k.
BTW: outside Europe, the ICE are also delivered with the Interaction bar. Coming to the US soon too.

Huum, I guess less than 2k ?

The option is offered at ordering (in relevant markets) at USD 200. I would guess that the price of the spare part would be a bit higher to which you only need to install (pay for working time). Hopefully, it will just be a plug and play (using the existing wires and no need to software update - they work the same I guess.. ). Fingers crossed !!!! in all cases, I am desperate to have the interaction bar !!

I was just talking to my BMW CA this morning. He said their most current info was still March production.(at least on the U.S. 530i that I have a pending order) It's only 3 or 4 months away, so I'll just keep on waiting.

I have a 540Ix going into production in December. Should have it sometime in February. I'll have to decide what to do if it arrives without it...

Once you have a VIN is there anyway to search if it will have it or not?

If it is possible to add it on after, id consider that as well.

when I had my new X1 on order earlier this year, my BMW CA called me a couple of weeks before it went into production. he went over everything(colors, options, packages, etc) in detail. after that, no further changes could be made. I assume that your BMW CA can tell you if your will have the interaction bar before it goes into production. If it's not on the build sheet, it will not be on it.

I put my order in a pending status. They have my deposit check and they can cash it as soon as they can produce me one with the correct parts(including the interaction bar, of course) I never buy a car unless it's built exactly how I want it. Having said that, my dealer did make a mistake with my X1 order which I did not discover until delivery day at the dealership, but I kind of forgave them(in exchange for a healthy compensation)
