Before the voice recognition accuracy can be improved, I don't expect it to do anything for me.
Even the very basic function I need to talk to it for more than 3 or 5 times and ends up I give up.... But maybe this only happen in non-English environment... I don't know. |

I never looked at a bmw for technology.

I think BMW has got the balance about right. It has the touch screen and voice controls for those that want it or for specific functions that suit it, but still retains the jog wheel and buttons on the console, dash and steering wheel.
This is a key reason I ruled out Audi this time round. Also, for me a HUD is mandatory. Too many speed cameras near me and think it's not ideal to be taking your eyes off the road. That rules out Tesla, especially the Model 3 and Y where the speed isn't even in front of you! |

Too bad - it way better than Mercedes or Audi. Tech like HUD, the Infotainment system are great. No other car can touch BMW HUD. Some people are just different, but I would not be without that tech. Merc does a horrible job with it, which is why my wife stopped getting any Mercs....

I agree, when voice control fails I resort to gesture and for some reason the car doesn't recognise the five knuckle shuffle

Yes, but the tech is going into Mercedes cars first. Then we're seeing other manufacturers pick it up.

Sometimes you have to pay, to be the best player in the game Mercedes has no problem paying , they just pass the cost on to their customer

And you have to get a S or 8 to get the new HUD. Big difference, when I can get BMW’s great HUD in any BMW. |

hope your kidding or being sarcastic.. the only gesture that works decent is the moonroof visor cover open/close, the trunk gesture is about 20% IF that. electronics is SHIT on the range rover (2016~2019 at least) the automatous driving is like pinball even on hwys. regarding gesture with bmws the volume control is more gimmick, but the custom gestures to navigate home or mute are nice but so are the custom controls which are just as easy to use

Mass produced and nothing special is what they have become. How the once mighty have fallen! Mercedes once manufactured and crafted the fines automobiles in the world. You could tell a MB from miles away. Best paint quality, best sheetmetal, best fit and finish, best interior materials, best attention to detail in and out, safety, innovation. It was a car that had unmistakable presence on the road. Beside a Rolls Royce, a Mercedes Benz was a car to aspire to. Modern M-B is nothing like that anymore. Just another manufacturer. People go gaga over their interiors riddle with creaky to the touch plastic interior trim pieces and glued in iPad tablets. The decline of Mercedes started in the early to mid 1990s. While probably better off today they still haven't been able to recapture their former glorious self. I prefer MB cars made during the era of their best slogan ever: "Engineered like no other car in the world". This is a real Mercedes Benz! These cars used to outlast/outlive pretty much anything on the road.
