They believe the majority of young BMW owners are simply trying to impress people and will do so by getting stuck in a low mileage lease rather than buying. So it's not necessarily hate but more making fun of.

And a lot of times they aren’t necessarily wrong. I know I cringe a bit when I see a young so and so in a base lease special 320 when they could get so much more for their money with another lease/brands. I’m not making fun of them, I honestly feel a little bad they get caught up in the hype of marketing. But, it is their money so be it and I’ve made similar poor car choices for the money in the past as well. Still do from time to time!

I'm glad BMW has finally started pulling their pricing back up, thankfully there's no more base 3 series for around 37-38k like the 320i. |

There was a time when the base bmw was a great car and a truly effective brand gateway. I'm thinking the E30 and E36 318is, and the E46 323i

hmmmm...."what do you say to BMW haters?"
this is certainly a thought provoking question, one of those times when it's best to turn to Higher Authority for the most appropriate response to such persons==> |

Why the hate?
I own an E71 X6M and a 2004 WRX STi here in Colorado. I regularly get waves and smiles from other Subaru owners, and not just STi owners, but I've never even gotten eye contact from another BMW owner. And owners of other makes seem downright hostile when I'm in the BMW. What gives? Jealousy? Or is it just that they think it's "just another BMW"? I just find it odd.

They kill the brand a bit with their base 323 and 328i @ 400$cad/month. Also they still doing it with the M pack. They should have called it with an other word, since M pack has nothing to do with M series. (audi made the 's-line' series for low performance car, and 'S' series for performance, and 'RS' series for high performance). But it worked fine, people don't seems to care about what you drive, if you got a bmw badge, you're rich and if you have a M or M pack, you're mad rich. |

I say nothing. I know the ins and outs of my cars, if something breaks I fix it. I feel that reliability is directly related to maintenance and the like, and have made it point to be mechanically inclined. Because I dig working on cars, especially my own. It's therapy. I own my current car because I want to own it. The thing drives well, has decent enough power (for now), looks great and rides nicely. Fuck the haters. Just smile, nod knowingly, and move on.

I wouldn’t expect a pleasantry from a knuckleheaded college girl in a BMW or a Porsche, but in the Porsche it was few and far between to not receive a nod or finger up on the steering wheel when crossing paths with another. Yes, this is unfortunate.

Haters gonna hate I guess. Most of the time when people have those types of opinions, nothing you can say will change their minds. |

If anyone should hate my car, it should be me. I'm not "rich" by any means, I saved my $$$ and bought my first BMW in cash and have spent a packet in repairs since. But I love it! I think that I would have spent less on my non-boring car than Joe Blow Public did on his RAV4, diesel CX5 or shitbox Ford Ranger. I just wish the 4x4 monster truck drivers would stop tailgating, It's not my fault they drive what they do.

You shouldn't give 2 F's about what people say about a Bimmah. And when someone talks about BMW reliability, look at what they drive, and how they drive. Because it'll tell you a lot. As in, they're the types of drivers to
1. Not warm up their cars 2. Not maintain their cars 3. Constantly running their cars on E 4. Putting 91 in a vehicle that requires 95 or 98 etc 5. Cheaping out on parts And still expect their car to not F out. Or you could just say "I'd rather be happy in my car than be miserable in your POS". |

I hate shit-talkers / haters
I take a ton of pride in putting money into my car, and I feel like many people don't understand how much fun it is to build your car from the ground up, and improve the ride and power every step of the way. It's a super fun hobby, and it's like an engineering project to see how fast I can make it. Yes, I've spent upwards of 25k in upgrades, but in my opinion, it's been worth every penny.
Many of the people that hate on my ride have never ridden in it, or seen it in person since pictures don't really do the car justice. However, I get sick of people telling me not to spend money on something I love, when I have the cash. Yes, maybe I don't go to the track enough, but every time I drive it on the road I love my ride. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to know if you guys have had similar experiences with people shitting on your ride for one reason or another.
