The speed limit should be at least 90 on the freeway in the first place, end of discussion.

More non-facts. In your state, state traffic enforcement costs more than the revenue from fines. And a large portion of fines does not go to "the state". Old and tired attempt to justify speeding.

Do you really want to be on a freeway where most of the morons can lawfully drive 90, but decide to drive 100 instead?

Agreed. I realize the OP has spelled vagabond backwards, but my mind struggles with words spelled backwards and it took me a while to realize that.

Names spelled like that makes me tend to feel like I'm as dyslexic as they come, or I'm channeling Lups or some crap like that and I look at his user name and my mind comes up with "BM douchebaga" somehow.

I don't think he's actually a douchebag IRL, probably just bitter about being pulled out of the crown and posted before he really had time to calm down and think about things. I suspect he's learned a valuable lesson...namely there is very little sympathy for the situation.

Actually, in the US the Federal Government coerced the states into lowering the maximum speed limit to 55 from 1974 to 1988, when 65 then was permitted. Then feds repealed the law in 95.

Texas has many stretches of 75, some 80 and at least one stretch of 85 MPH

The first time I saw an accident on an unrestricted part of the autobahn, trees chopped down about ten feet off the ground, I had a similar thought. I can't imagine the carnage on our roads if we raised our speed limits to anywhere approaching triple digits. Driver education and car maintenance is laughable here.

They aren't and they are human. 99% are really great men and women who are not looking to wreck your day. But, if your are douchebag to them is where the human part comes in. Shocking, they aren't going to be very nice back to you.

It would be really cool to hear the officers side of the story as to what the OP was really doing to catch his/her attention in the first place.

I'd venture a guess that there is an age divide here with those that are crying looking for sympathy and have the screw the police attitude and those that are saying suck it up.

You are responsible for your actions and decisions. That's how the world works. I don't think for a minute those that are saying suck it up drive like old ladies, or are holier than thou, they are just mature enough to accept the consequences of said actions.

Unless the speed limit is 60-65 on the highway it's ridiculous to get pulled over for 75. His complaint is valid.

Don't totally disagree but even if the speed limit was 70, it was still speeding. Agreed, overly picky by the LEO but still a violation. All of us go through life bending rules (some way more than others!) but at some point the rules are the rules. And while the OP may be upset at being picked out of a crowd who were all speeding, it is still no reason to wish harm upon the officer. Come, vent but take it like a grown up. I know I wouldn't be happy with my 18 and 19 sons getting a ticket but this of response would make me more upset than the ticket.
