Can I just suggest it's a perfect time to come and visit Australia.
Most of the country has just got some reprieve from the heatwave that gave us a month of 110f days / 70f nights. Southern states are now enjoying 80f days and ~65f nights. Of course, If you do visit our little country, I recommend you add south-east Queensland to your itinerary where it's 90f during the day and 70f at night pretty much every day from December to March. |

In all seriousness, this is why the scientific community started referring to "global warming" as "climate change".
The effect of global warming is that it makes extreme weather events more extreme and more common - This winter wonderland you're experiencing now is global warming in action. |

I thought the theory was that it was the warming that was gonna kill us in 12 years. Now everything is climate change? People are so gullible.

It isn't up to the general population or politicians to dispute the science. It's like politicians saying "smoking doesn't cause cancer" or saying "this man didn't die of a gun-shot wound" while holding an autopsy report saying they did. Politicians and the General population get to decide what to do about it, not whether or not it is what it is. We're all a bit too polite these days in not telling people they're simply not qualified to rationally review the body of scientific evidence in any given field and come up with an unbiased answer. Unless you've done a PhD in climate change; (or in Vaccines, or 'the geometric shape of the world') you're not qualified to dispute the findings of the international scientific community. You do, however, get to have input in what we as a society choose to do about it. And ignoring the problem is an entirely valid position. Saying the problem does not exist is not. Now, since I'm not a scientist, I'll need to respond to you with a link from someone who is: https://www.livescience.com/37057-gl...g-effects.html Quote:

Welp, it's a global-warming-caused 19 degrees outside right now in my part of Tennessee....Hate to think what it would be if we were suffering from global cooling...It might be (gasp!) 18 degrees outside!!! Yikes!

It hit -10 not too long ago.
I feel like in the winter every road imperfection here (present every 2 seconds of driving) feels even more jarring. With these negative temps I'm going to need a back massage + new struts! |

Was coming off of 96 east onto the Southfield freeway and was dodging several HUGE potholes that could have easily swallowed my tires. A few miles down the road I saw a dodge neon that had about 25 degrees of camber on his rear driver side wheel.. Must have busted something! |

I moved to North Miami beach from outside Philadelphia in 2004. Never looked back and you'd have to pull me out of here like a tooth to get me to leave. Ride my motorcycle daily to work on sunny days and revert to my coupe on the days that it's raining in the morning. Still follow the Eagles.

It was -20C here this morning in Southern Ontario, warming up to a -13C during the day. Thankfully my car is garage kept but she starts okay sitting in the cold too. I think the trunk mounted battery helps.
For all those living in Florida and Arizona, how do you enjoy the summers? I was in Florida in the summer for business and wow, I remember being blasted with a wave of humid air so hot when I arrived, and the locals told me this is normal. Where I am, we have a great Spring and Summer can get hot and humid 30C+ but typically its in the 20Cs with some days humid other days not and there are plenty of beaches and pools close by. As for Arizona and Nevada, summer is bat shit hot, its true the dry heat helps but there is also no beaches. I did go to Lake Mead but that was the only option I am aware of. I really liked Tuscon but Phoenix with all the concrete was so hot during the day, it was like a ghost town. Just curious how the people from the warm climates deal or enjoy the summer? As for California, I will admit, it has the perfect climate; its just becoming so liberal, overpopulated and taxed. |
