Waaaaay back when...my little white 320i with crank windows and sunroof. Best 'feeling' BMW I've had. Hands down.

Sir, the new GT350 is not raw in any way. That's a fact.

Okay, than neither is your Miata. And I'll just assume that you haven't actually driven a GT350.

i never liked the S2000s steering at all...have driven several. it's 'fast' but totally lifeless in terms of feel. Lots of S2000 owners say it's the worst part about them...

When I think of raw feeling cars I also tend to think light weight. Heavy cars that are loaded with power seats, interior accessories, sound deadening, etc loose that connection with the road. For a raw car I want no more than 3200 lbs with a throttle cable, hydrolic steering rack, and a manual trans with a clutch that grabs hard.

Had a 1970 Mini round nose - was a Cooper S replica built on the Australian-delivered Mini K chassis with a Minor 1278 fitted, bored out to 1330 with a giant carb on it. Nothing like the sound of that induction literally inches away from you.

Have a 1997 Skyline with the RB25DET - ended up throwing a top-mount, T67 and Greddy intake on it to make a lazy 400 at the wheels at 17. Drive it every now and then just for some manual transmission, brutal boost in 3rd, and annoying people with external gate. Still ranks #1 most likely to kill me of my cars.

I love my C63 Black Series. The ride is pretty harsh to some, but I love it. The tail end is extremely happy with the traction control off. You have to be on top of your game when you drive it. Probably one of the most modern raw experiences you can get from the skunkworks at AMG. Just my own opinion.

I said under 3200lbs. There are many cars in that category. A Miata is more like 2400. Much less than the 3200 I stated.

Do we want raw and fast? Just a little mountain pass car. I had a '91 318is and that was such a beautiful car. No power, but it weight all of 2626-ish pounds and had only what it needed. Add on some h&r sport springs and billies and you have a smile machine for under 5k.. depeneding on what you find going for.

Man I love this car and that setup. I had a greddy t67 years ago too.

M2,
Raw and fast certainly don't have to be linked but when I think about cars I personally like they are all fast ones. I'm sure there are other fun cars with less hp that are certainly a bit of work to drive and can be fun.

The E46 M3 isn't raw in my book. But as others already stated it's all relative. A is more raw than B that is more raw than C, but A may still not be very raw. Depending on where you are and your references.

An M3 CSL is pretty raw but not really all-in raw. But jump from the CSL to the non CSL M3 and wow the later is a soft car. Great engine! But quiet, comfy... soft. Nothing you can't fix though.

Man, some of you have never driven a truly raw car with some of the modern cars you're calling raw.

Not knocking your car at all, but raw it is not.
