I had an associate that thought his Nissan sentra was really fast. It was an se-R after all. I laughed and he got offended. So I said let's see. We went to a parking lot and set up to run. So our flagman raises his arms and dude takes off. He comes back to starting line and says WTF? I informed him that standard practice is to GO when he DROPS his arms. I'm brake standing and creeped a little the second time so he didn't leave. Fine. 3rd time we both get going and I had 3 car lengths in about 100'. Just smoked him. He didn't even stop, just drove home. I was in it for fun, but he was serious. Once again 7litres is better than 2litres.

Not sure if this counts but back in undegrad years ago, I had the same class with a high school guy I knew. He had an Acura RSX (don't think it was type S). I had an 06 E90 330i which had 255 HP IIRC. Anyway, being car guys we wanted to go for a run in the canyons.
It wasn't a race or anything like that. It was just for fun. I never thought anything about either cars and really did like the RSX (a good friend's brother had one as well). Anyway, it was pretty fun and when we were heading down hill, we said we would see how long it would take to get down (without being reckless obviously). So I led and knowing those roads like the back of my hand I just flew down (used to go there few times a week for a long time before gas got to almost $5 a gallon). He never caught up with me and there were parts where I didn't even see his headlights in my rear view. Towards the bottom is one of my favorite parts so I always go fast. Anyway, I thought it was fun to relive some old memories driving that road again. Next day in class I heard him telling a guy next to him that he smoked my car going down hill (we all sat next to each other). Not sure why as I wasn't going around telling people about it. |

That is how she sits now. When I ran the Nissan it only had a cam, intake, and headers. Last edited by 08njSTEP; 12-03-2016 at 01:56 PM.. |

Unfortunately I started with an SS396 car and all my upgrades were to that 396 so I'm kinda stuck with a little big block. If I was starting from scratch I would go 600+cu in.

Always remember going to car shows with my dad and loved listening to huge engines with huge cams. $30k engine + $8k chassis = tons of fun |

I knew a guy in MD that had a street legal 8sec car in the '90s. '57 corvette with 800cu in NA motor. He drove it around the fairgrounds at a vette show all day. Had the split dominators and the whole shebang. Then he had a '54 vette in the 7's. Ended up with a '64 with the biggest turbo I've ever seen. Rod Sabury was the baddest ass I've ever met. Always street legal and just insane. I worked away from straight line and now focus on balanced street cars that can turn and stop, as well as turning rubber into smoke.

I have something crazy/stupid.
When I was living in Dublin, I had a neighbor who drove a 318d. But he had removed the original badge and put the M3 badge on the back. I asked him one day if I could drive it around the block and he said it was too much power for a kid like me (I was 25). So I asked him why he had a single exhaust and he proceeded to tell me with a straight face that he had converted it to a single one to reduce noise and emissions. What do you say to that : |

I particularly like the kids that show up to car meets and proceed to spout out a list of exotics that are vastly superior in every way to your car, regardless of what you drive. Sir, I know my M5 is no match for a 1:1 Koeniggsegg, if I had one we wouldn't be talking.

I've got a buddy to this day that will tell people he bought his v6 Dodge Avenger as his "muscle car".. We have yet to race because conveniently he drives his winter beater over every time I see him, but I've been told the thing could kick my cars ass
