After my last experience with BMW, I doubt I'll own another one for a while.

A GTR took its place and I couldn't be happier.

991 4s or turbo s were also on the list.

Oh, hell no!

There're taxis where I live and work. My sorry ass isn't walking unless I want to walk or don't have a choice.

All the best.

Ok I'm a bit confused. Earlier someone said RS5 if it existed, now RS4 if it came to the US? They don't?

The RS5 is no longer in production so it depends when I was shopping and what happened to be available at that time. Inventory is already pretty thin where I live.

Mercedes ML350 or E350...I must be getting old. I also like Porsche, but I would buy used. The new GT350 also looks interesting.

It's nice to dream about a new car, but I'll continue driving my old M3 as a weekend car. I'm beginning to prefer having a higher bank account balance.

I'd probably go Benz E class wagon to replace my 328 touring since I don't think they have a C class wagon...as for fun if an M3 wasn't available...maybe 911...but probably C63 cause it's more practical and I like over powered saloons!

Dude, we had an 84' Chevette Diesel growing up. I believe it might have been the biggest POS car ever made, but that engine WOULD_NOT_QUIT. My grandpa bought it new in 84' for my grandma, who barely drove. My dad bought it from her, and we ended up painting it DuPont laser Red, and fitted it with some chrome American Racing wheels. It was a hilarious beater car, but it just wouldn't quit. We ended up selling it to a friend of my brothers, and if it hasn't rusted away by now, I bet that turd is still running...

If BMW didn't exist, I'd probably be in something 4-doors, 3-pedals, and used ('cause budget...) Likely contenders would be...

-Mazda 3 for a small car
-Acura TL Type-S if I could find one with a 3-pedal transmission. (I don't actually know if they exist.)
-Audi B7 S4 - with the 4.2L V8 (And pray the timing chains didn't let go...)
-Mercedes CLS if the budget could swing it. (If I could live with an auto...)
-Maybe a WRX, even though I'm not crazy about turbo-cars
-Maybe a G37?

Can I just say I'm really glad BMW exists...

I'm kind of surprised at all the Audi selections.

If you spent time on an Audi forum, you wouldn't. I say that because, now having spent time in both, I can say you find that a lot of people cross over from one to the other (BMW to Audi and vis versa) and back again...like me (probably).

unfortunately
this is not a hypothetical question for me
the current crop of BMWs don't do it for me anymore
so I switched brands
as much as I love BMW, I can't spend my hard earned money on any of the current models
this is coming from someone who has owned 5 BMWs in the last 7 years

now I drive audi for my winter beater
and an alfa as my daily

i still can't get over how ugly the front bumper is on the new m3/m4
what the hell was the designer thinking?

Yeah. Not to start a war, but I wish I could keep the e92 styling with the power of the new ones.

I also don't like that line accross the hood. (My personal opinion)

I find it odd because the vehicles share little in common in terms of driving sensation. Granted, i've only driven the A3, TT (both body styles) S4 and A6. But none of them have ever felt on par with the sensation from driving M3s of similar years.

Those above i've driven for weeks and or months at a time (some of them modded) while owning M3s, but the S5, RS4, Q5s are the only ones i've driven recently and only for a test drive. But they didn't really vary much from what i've felt from the past Audi models...on a test drive anyway.

I haven't gotten into the F80 at all though, even for a test drive. And i can't say that I'm thrilled with the styling. Especially the dash. But when i see a 4 series on the road, it catches my eye, even more so when it's an M4.

I've always viewed Audi as a very solid, economical vehicle, which is also a very nice place to be when commuting.
