This. If you like it, buy it.

I've never understood why people say only old men drive vettes. They have been pretty good looking performance bargains for a while now. Go break the stereotype, it's fun, like how I always signal in my BMW.

I was originally looking to get an M4, and then the Z06 pricing and performance figures were announced. When I went to look at a Z06 the Chevy lot had (I am not exaggerating) at least 30-40 Vettes lined up. They are having major quality control issues, such as poor leather fitment, awful paint jobs, and they left a bunch of Z07 cars with Cup 2 tires sitting in the freezing weather in Detroit... which caused a bunch of new owners to have cracked tires.

After seeing the Z06 lose to a stock Viper from a roll and progressively get slower after each race, I ended up buying a Viper GTS. For 97k I got a 2014 leftover with every single available option added onto the car. I've seen more Z06 vettes on the road this month than I've seen of Vipers over my entire life. The Viper gets way too much attention every time I drive it.

I was hesitant to consider a Corvette for the same reason. Not because I cared what other people thought of the car, but because going to a car show or meet with other Vette owners, I'd have trouble fitting in. Not to mention the fact that the corvette forum Z06 section is a sewer of hate and insecurity. Part of owning a fun car is the additional ownership experiences as aforementioned. I'd find it hard not to laugh at all the people who literally think their Corvette is the best car ever made (there are dozens of members that I could quote).

I saw a 15 leftover viper gt for 85 they are much nicer fit and finish and rare, the raw carbon underparts are nice also.when they started it in the store the vette actually sounded just as good but i bet under load that viper does sound sweet.

I still think of a corvette as an old mans car. Is that wrong? Are younger guys buying and driving the new corvette?
I drove mostly Corvettes (C5Z and C6) in my early 30s. I didn't care that most vette owners were older than me. Phenomenal cars and I loved them. Interestingly most Corvette owners are way cool. Half would wave at you when they see you. Cool BMW drivers, just not as common.

If you've never owned a Corvette you're missing out on a great experience and an amazing car especially the new C7.

Here's a modded one, but the noise is basically the same, just slightly quieter without the exhaust

At 85k you'd be crazy to buy anything else if you're budget limited (and if you're looking at 2-seater sports cars). The only real expense after that will be tires and mods (which will be mega expensive if you get the bug).

I don't think of a Z06 as a certain age demographic car, just as a KILLER car!

Universal agreement that build and material quality, heavily updated interior along with zr1 performance at a z06 price point is a win in all categories. Some (including you) have opposite opinions. I admit, it is ridiculous these overheating / cooling issues are taking place. Eventually GM or the aftermarket will have a legitimate solution to fixing those problems. But I do not see how weight has made any impact on performance.

Let's be real, C7 z06 is a street car at the end of a day. Building something as a track car means you make different priorities in the design process. As a dual purpose vehicle, once the overheating issues are addressed, you cannot fault the c7 z06.

Where was the driver mod in that video? I saw a guy racing in a straight line on public roads and slamming gears. The way he's holding the shifter for the 3rd to 4th shifts is a "money shift" waiting to happen.

The chick looked good though.

Had a 2004 Supra Turbo 6MT that was an absolute blast. Missing it ever since and always dreamed about a C6 Z06 as a "reward car". But combination of no back seat, and the cultural baggage of the vette, and current enjoyment of 535 - now an M4 on order.

The C7s are gorgeous!
And the Z06
I wouldn't mind one at all, probably as a weekend car though (2 seats)

Coming from a 21 y/o.

The C7 look fantastic. I would easily drive one, don't give a sh*t about the Corvette stigma.

Then get a better job, and maybe you'll be able to afford one someday. Who knows, maybe someday you'll be able to drive a BMW.

you live in FL?

you dont need a winter car

you are 21, so i would hope you dont have kids yets. that means you dont need the back seats. only for maybe driving friends around. but i wont let that stop me.

I am not telling you to get a corvette. I am saying you should try to get a real sports car before you start a family.

Sage advice. Wish I didn't need 4 doors. C7 Z51 is an incredible value.

I'm not sure they will truely fix the issue. They never fixed the cooling issues in the other cars but I hope they will. They should have never gone pd supercharger in a track focused car. I can only imagine how hard to was to pull off for the enginners. Corvettes don't have a big front clip so cooling is very tricky.

I run clients in my car sometimes

That's not a bad idea though, I either want an M4 or the Z07/Z06 next!
