The moral of that story was restraint. He let time go by. Emotions settled and then he acted not out of need. But from a calm and collected place. I don't think going all Hollywood romcom is the way to go.

Dude...you may luck out if you do get back with her but this typically results in a toxic relationship and a viscous cycle wherein when she feels comfortable in your relationship being secure, she starts to wig out etc. again, then you freak out and grow distant and then she cools it, then things ease up, she feels comfortable, freaks out...etc.

Have gone through this myself and have also had trouble letting go, especially when there are redeeming factors in play...but you have to make a decision if its worth it and if you can be happy despite the inherent flaws

Move on bro, their are reasons you aren't together. If those haven't been fixed, your just building, investing time, emotions into a bridge on a bad foundation.
