I would expect $35k which is comparable to the Golf R and STI. I would also expect north of 350 hp as the base 2.3 in the Mustang makes 306 and this has a larger turbo, much larger intercooler and bigger exhaust among other things.
Even if it's under 350hp Ford will sell you factory backed tunes and parts to get you higher. You will see 400hp out of this, going to be a beast. If my car gives me any trouble I could go back to a hatch. |

The Golf R is significantly more refined so I think at the same price point this would fail. However, I think it'll start around $31-32k, right where it belongs.

If the Golf R was as good a performer as cars like the Evo and STI I would agree. But that isn't the case and this car should perform better than all 3 based on the specs. The Golf R is more luxury per dollar, the Focus is more performance per dollar. |

Audi won't bring the gotdamn RS3 Avant over to the US and the S3 sedan is way more luxury than raw performance. Ford is stepping it up and this will force Subaru to step up. Mitsubishi let the Evo die and Ford looks like they're playing for keeps, your move Subaru. Go Ford. |

I would definitely buy this over a Mustang GT simply b/c not everyone and their teenage daughter will be driving a Focus RS (big nod to the 6-speed only specification!)
I'm sure this will be priced competitively in the same ballpark as the STI and Golf R so like mid-$30's I conjecture that this will perform better than the Golf R considering it will have "well over 315 horsepower." The 6-speed manual is the best news in my opinion! Only thing to be concerned about would be curb weight; the Focus ST weighs 3,234 lbs (according to C&D scales). |

It probably has a lot of standard equipment that an ST3 would have, and that car stickers at 27k.

This car is why there is no chance BMW will waste time trying to reengineer UKL for RWD for the next generation entry level M cars. The competition is mastering the transverse AWD layout (Mitsubishi has been doing it for years after all) and building some amazing products so no one is going to want to pay the tax for RWD sedans/hatchbacks anymore anyway.
I would still go with the Golf R vs. this Focus RS though - I just can't give up my DCT. |

I would actually wait to compare the RS with the new SRT 4 banger from dodge... because if its anything like the hellcat, it may blow anything close to it out of the water in terms of hp... Seems like the HP wars are here, and now with AWD.
I know this is only a render, but if its anything close to this i'd be willing to compare it with the RS ![]() |
