I've done a preorder as a replacement for my dead iX M60....

That being said, a bit disappointed with acceleration and range. How is this slower than my MY23 M550? My guess is that it's less than 3.7, but isn't marked as such to not complete with the i7 M70 as the king of speed.

Also looks like B&W upgraded Diamond surround isn't at all an option? HK standard on the i5 e40, "Bowers & Wilkins surround sound" on the i5 M60. Seems similar to the standard speakers on the i7. If there's no "high end" speaker option, may have to consider going back to an x5 M60.

Press release says the optional active roll bar stabilization is also delayed?

The thought process is that it gives you something to do if you're charging in the middle of nowhere. In fact, you can only play them while the car is stopped and charging.

Tesla's have offered this kinda stuff for years.

It’s an attempt to hide the increased height. Even the designer explained it was hard to not make it look like a brick since the roofline has increased significantly to incorporate the batteries in the floor. He said they wanted to make it less German and more Italian.

It’s not particularly bad, just a bit ‘meh’. Maybe proportions, or sloping boot profile, or another BMW car removing strong shoulder/ side crease but not as good as the g30 for me.
And I’d imagine I’m in the demographic that the 5 series is meant to appeal to, oh well.

I think they missed an opportunity to provide a 400+ mile eDrive 50/60 version. That would dominate the current electric sedan options near this price point. Given a choice at a modestly higher price, I think people would prefer the higher range version over the base eDrive40.

Lol yes because playing a game while sitting at a DC fast charger REALLY noticeably impacts charging speeds.

Would it though? I'm of the opinion that overall range is overrated. I've never once got range anxiety in my i4 because most people rarely have to drive that much very frequently and if you did, I'd argue that an EV still isn't ideal for that use case.

Wonder if anyone has thought about what all this extra weight will do to the roads when all cars are electric.
Or the huge increase in tire expenses, nobody likes to talk about that either. Rubber industry is already spread very thin.

Exterior lacks character nothing “sexy” about it.

I have never in a million years had a desire to play video games in my car. It’s a gimmick that wears of quick having seen in a friends Tesla.

I was hoping for a bold look but it is very “blaaaa”

Looks tiny in pictures. Like all recent BMWs its probably 100 times better in person (except the i4 and iX...both horrible in person).

Diffuser size is overkill, like many recent BMW Models.

Needs to be seen in real life.

I misread the weight (looked at max weight GVWR) for the petrol engines, hence edit.

4-pot? There's no 4-pot launch model (nor will there ever be one in the US I guess). The 5200 lbs are for the i5 M60 BEV.

That's the weight for the full dual motor electric version.

4 cylinder versions:

RWD - 4,041 lbs
AWD - 4,158 lbs

I am disappointed by 5,200 lbs for the dual motor car though. Would have liked to have seen it under 5,000 lbs. Dual motor Model 3 weighs in at 4,100 lbs. Granted this is bigger, and has more stuff. But 1,100 lbs more stuff? Hmmm.

Looks really good. All the attention is on electric, I get it, but the 540 will be a really nice and attractive car. If I were still driving my G30 540, I think I’d be scheming on when to get into this G60 version. Although with all the changes, it might still be good to wait until the second production year.
