Welt product specialist confirmed to me today that dealers are not allowed to handover cars to owners until worldwide release in October. I didn’t ask specific date because I’m not waiting on one. I assumed it would be earlier than end of the month.

Correct they also stay at port closer till release date but for i5 it’s October 28th for America. We’re told had to be camps even at service/ hidden at sales still camo can’t come off til that date or seen by public.

Is this normal for new model releases or something more recent? I don’t recall this in the past but may not have paid attention to it.

Also passed by BMW Strasbourg (country HQ for France?) and saw new 5er banners but no actual cars. Same at a dealership near Lindau. Passed a few trucks loaded with new BMWs but also no 5er so they must be making some effort to keep to the schedule.

With new models yes we had it with I7 and M2 but the later released M70 I7 did not receive such treatment. First time I was told by somebody of corporate to make its camo’d other modes as I mentioned did not need to be camo’d but had to remain hidden but then again I’ve only been with BMW for 2 years.

happens with other brands as well, its usually when its a new engine or model that hasn't been sold before in the country.

leasehackr sorry for the dark pics but as you can see my dealer has 11/23 build dates and it’s is available please not the interaction bar like on the 7 series is delayed till 3/24 as it’s on a recall
