Same boat. Had been waiting to get my X7 iD40 to be picked up this Saturday (arrived to dealer 1 week ago), got a called regarding Stop Sell🥲

I still do not understand how an old recall, orginally issued on 2/12/2024, affacts a new (2025) Model which is just made.

Regardless, Assuming it might take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, what do you guys usually do if you already signed the documents and finalised everything (APR, Down etc).
Any thoughts appreciated!

I am sure they'll hold your APR.

I think it has to do with when the loan is executed. For you guys int he states, if you are using BMW financing the loan is executed when you sign for your car to pick it up. If another bank then it is executed when they deposit the check or whatever. So you just have to wait. For me, the loan was executed the minute I had the bank wire the Loan + Savings money to BMW AG to pay for the car. (Payment in full required within 10 days of them issuing the VIN.) So I still have to make payments on the loan even though the car is not built yet. However the warranty period does not start until the car is delivered to me.

I’m guessing this won’t affect cars where production hasn’t started yet right?

I know this bulletin has been out since Feb. So my car was built with a known defect?

I can't imagine them not doing bench level validations on the system prior to installation. In reading the document in this thread that was provided, parts marked with a green dot have already passed the test. Those without it, need to be tested. Building more vehicles with untested parts seems like it would exacerbate an already awful situation for them.

Potentially, yes. Definitively, No. If you look at the remediation document they provided in July, only 0.55% of vehicles actually contained a defective part that failed testing, and had to be replaced.

I told my dealer to order the car at the end of April. There was a low APR then. They didn't put the order in until mid-May because of allotment and my lease wasn't up until mid-July. What they said to me is we will use the lowest APR rate between when you ordered the car and when it's delivered. I lease so I don't know if that has a bearing on it and this will be the 8th car I've bought/leased from them. I would try and hold the dealer to the rate that is lowest between when it was supposed to be delivered and when it is. This is not your fault it is theirs.

Vehicles in production yesterday onward (allegedly) are produced with the new part and won't be affected.

I just saw this. I'm affected as well. I just picked up a new 2024 i5 M60 a couple of weeks ago and I logged into BMWUSA and saw there was a recall on my car too. I'll just wait until I get a letter in the mail and more reliable information on when replacement parts are readily available. Until then I have 2 other BMW's that I can drive, I just won't drive the M60 too much until I have it inspected. Sheesh.

As an aside: Anyone else having trouble signing up for AutoPay on the BMWUSA Website? I have been trying for weeks now to sign up for it, and I keep getting the same error.

Suggest just calling BMW FS and getting help re AutoPay. I've had to do that before.

This is reassuring. As my 5’er isn’t even at 150 yet 😂

I placed build order for 2025 X6 M early May 2024, received production number mid-July and X6 arrived at dealership early August. I was notified a few days after arrival of the hold and initial feedback from dealership was a "couple days delay", however dealership is now advising the delay could extend to a "couple weeks". Dealership advised 76% of the cars involved in the Stop Sale at their dealerships are sold vehicles. Frustrating, however willing to wait!

We were also told the same....that cars being produced from around that date aren't affected. Our 25 X7 was built the first week of August and has been sitting at the dealer for 10 days now. Our sales rep put in another order for the same exact car that should be here in a couple weeks just in case the prior one doesn't get fixed by then.

Obviously, it's not this easy if your car is coming from Germany.

I was told they (meaning BMW) are prioritizing actual cars that have been sitting at service first.....then cars that are sold at dealers but not delivered.

I'm just hoping since my car is not actually built yet (At 150, but has not moved to 151 yet) it falls under the Not produced yet and gets the new part. I would hate for it to sit at the dealer or plant waiting to be repaired prior to shipping. Of course, they could just delay production......

I’m hoping it doesn’t result in a slip in production schedule. They have a vested interest in keeping things on target, so I still have faith at this point.

The sample recall letter did say that you can continue driving so that's what I'm gonna do until I receive the "remedy available" letter

It seems safe to do so. From their July 2024 statistics out of >10,000 vehicles inspected less than 60 required a replacement unit. The statistical average has been 0.55% so far.

Recall Hotline

They know absolutely less than nothing if that's even possible! I called the dealership and he said it still shows as a stop-sell on his end but will check with the manager to see what is actually going on. Then he said BMW is supposed to be shipping new parts in the next week or two.
