The only way I suspect this happened is that my dealer did not have an allocation so they traded for it. It was probably already configured and whomever went in and updated the configuration messed up.

If they offer to retrofit the ADAP (not sure it’s even possible) I’ll consider taking the car without glass controls and 4-way climate. But if they can’t retrofit ADAP then I won’t accept the car.

The car still hasn’t left the factory so maybe there’s something they can do. I’m not holding my breath.

Some but all to be confirmed Monday. They confirmed they can’t retrofit glass controls or 4-way but jury still out on ADAP.

However I suspect even if they come back that they can do it I’m not sure I’m comfortable having the car get major surgery before being delivered. I’m likely leasing so probably doesn’t matter but my head is a bit scrambled right now.

I went back looking at the Model S Plaid. Also test drove an iX but didn’t love it.

Well this is my FINAL update for this post and this whole ordeal.

BMW confirmed they cannot retrofit the ADAP, so I have received my deposit back and rejected the car. It will get delivered likely sometime in end of August/September (it’s apparently on the boat) but I won’t be buying it. If anyone’s interested it’ll be at the BMW Otto’s Dealer in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Absolutely pissed off - had two different attempts to buy this car - first in March with the other BMW dealer (Elite) that went sideways - they tried to pressure me to pick up a car before end of quarter when I was going on holidays, and they said they couldn’t get it shipped from about 200 miles away in time. They wanted to send one of their guys to go get it and drive 200 miles in my car - no way. And now with this other dealer, they screw up my order (dealer confirmed the build was wrong in the main system but they didn’t catch it in time).

Words cannot describe. Not going back to BMW for a while.

I put the $250 deposit on a new 2024 Model S Plaid - waiting for it to be built - estimated delivery of July/August 2024. Ultra Red with white sports seats. Who knows if i’ll keep it but it’s only 250$ I can cancel anytime, even just before delivery. I had wanted a model S before my Model 3, but the wait times back in 2021 were too long, so settled on the Model 3 performance, when my gut was saying Model S. I will agree Tesla’s aren’t built as well as BMWs, but the Model S is great and the tech (which I love) is a tad better, especially the mobile app experience which I feel I’d miss. Oh and the ordering process with Tesla.. so much better. You order it yourself, don’t have to deal with sleazy salespeople (sorry).. I swear I had anxiety every time I went into a dealer. /rant off.

Maybe all this was a sign, sometimes you have to look at the upsides?

That sucks. Such a shame that it’s the dealer that’s screwed this over for you - they should have honored the terms of the financing for your MY24 IMO, but they lost out. Ugh.

I suspect the dealer got word from the Sales Director to let me walk and not push or maintain deals, etc.

The reality is the i5 M60 doesn’t appear to be selling well in Canada from what I can gather. Almost all the top trim M60’s I saw back in March are still for sale, with the MY25 coming out soon and my literally last to be built (it was built on the Thursday and the EOP for MY24 was the next day), and only delivered in August, the dealer is probably going to have a real hard time selling this car and may take a wash.

So if they know they are probably taking a wash, they probably don’t want to lose anymore and better to lose a client I guess?

Don’t get me wrong, dealer was open to giving me 10% off an in-stock vehicle and on his lot and the BMW preferred interest rate - there was really nothing that appealed to me. And wouldn’t honour the pricing or interest rate for the MY25 i5 M60. He did have an iX M60 that was nice, test drove it, but just did not love it. I didn’t want to “settle” on anything just because he was offering me a good deal. Heck even through this whole ordeal I considered going back to gas but that would have been a mistake and would have been a knee-jerk reaction.

Stokkes, have you considered trying to get a car through a broker and have it shipped/delivered to you from another dealer? Not sure if it works that way in Canada, but some folks in the US work with a broker who gets the best deal from almost anywhere in the country, and they just arrange to have the car shipped to the customer (so it doesn't really matter what dealership is used in a sense). Just throwing that out there. Sorry things didn't go better for you.

I’m afraid that really isn’t a thing in Canada (at least to my knowledge). Taking all this as a sign to walk away. 2 failed deals in 6 months time to reassess some life decisions 😉

I know I said there wouldn’t be any updates but I was near the BMW dealer on Saturday and they received the car I ordered.

Should not have gone to see it but still can’t bring myself to get something that wasn’t as ordered.

It’s absolutely gorgeous though. Maybe the best i5 I’ve seen.

Damn dude - that’s a really good looking car. Honestly it seems that it’s a familiar story of a dealer who screwed up through incompetence. Any chance that cutting a deep discount for your trouble would somehow make this whole? It feels as though there’s part of you that wants the car….

That Isle of Man Green looks about a shade lighter than the Lagoon Green my '93 325i was. Nice color, but not for me.

No. I’ve about had it. I tried to buy an i5 from two different dealers. First one gave me the run around after I put a deposit and making excuses, and this second dealer screwed up the order. Just left a sour taste in my mouth.

I’ve got a red w/ white seats Model S Plaid due to be delivered next week.
