Those officers showed more restraint than I think I would have considering the suspect fired one round while on the ground earlier in the struggle.

it amazes me every time - how quickly these things go from 0 to 60.

how do you guys handle this shit or what's worse, the possibility of this shit on a daily basis...

It makes us skeptical of even the most friendly person. You have to consider that every person is a potential threat.

That was in my city.... It's completely out of control. Yesterday afternoon, a guy in a BMW was carjacked at gunpoint a freakin mile from my house. I'm in one of the outer boroughs of NYC with very low crime compared to the rest of the city. The armed robberies, break ins and car jackings are insane. Crime is worse now than it was back in the 80s.

There was a guy running the other day, a car hit him and knocked him flying to the ground. What did the driver do? He pulled over, went to the guy on the floor, robbed him and left him there. Animals!

I agree. There is a new level of brazen. The policies in the blue states have emboldened criminals to a point where we are almost at a point of no return.

I wish we had fast patrol cars. Back when the CHP had the 5.0 Mustang patrol car in service, that was about the only time we had anything fast. Sigh! The good ol' days.

I always chuckle when they make standard squad cars keep up with sports cars and exotics in movies, well pretty much anything outside of a Prius.

There has been so many times a state trooper has taken off from a light and I've wanted to just gas is past them, but I don't wanna hurt their feelings lol

The "race a cop" thing at drag strips is common, with PBA organizations or community outreach programs funding purpose-built drag cars in police decals as a way to get kids to stop racing on the streets.....

I may not have the right story but I thought they intentionally hit him and then two passengers in the car jumped out and rifled his pockets and took what they could find. Talk about callous.

I was stunned. I read the story you linked and the kid is proof we live in crazy world. Seems he was responding to the judge with the right attitude and saying yes sir and all until at one point he asks the judge if HE can sue. The judge asks who he thinks he can sue and there is no response.

This is the world of crazy. HE thinks HE is the victim here.

Our department had a few 5.0 Mustangs and then they got a couple of Camaro's with Corvette engine packages. These cars were only used by our dedicated Traffic officers and were all totalled within about 2 years.

The CHP had the Camaro's as well, but they were used primarily for commercial enforcement. The semi-truck drivers had a hard time seeing them coming.
